It usually does start on a Monday, but as with BMOC 2008-01, when there is a holiday, they sometimes adjust the class.

If what you guys are saying is true then the department is SEVERELY hurting for SGTs.

For the dept to withhold the newest list, to save 30 names from being cut for January on the current list, is amazing.

That either means they need SGTs, and fast, or that not as many passed the 2008 exam as we thought. Considering that theres a new test in 4 months it could mean both. :P

tonight a Sgt that works for promotions told me that the list is being postponed till jan. I don't know if this will effect sept. 2nd or not. just passing on the info.

I heard the same thing. However, It won't effect the class going in Sept. 2.

infinity, this job is about hooks and cranes. I've never complained because I spent my years going from detail to detail. I guess people that are on the non-recieving end, get upset.

They can also promote "provisionals" pending the passing or failure of the sergeants test. They did it years back, and history tends to repeat itself.

Wouldn't skipping names for favor be a corruption, OEEO, ethics, or labor law issue. I would think that a move like that as easily proved by a list coming out would be avoided. Don't you? Especially in this lawsuit day and age??

7YRLOU, they told me the finest would probably come down tomorrow afternoon and that they would probably get the list an hour before the Finest. 75 are definately going in next tues, binders, desks, everything is prepared.

September 2 is definately the day and its definately exam 7508. Just got call from sick desk telling me to return to full duty if I want to get in the Tuesday class............

what was your raw score? just want to compare scores to see if I got a chance of making it in the first class.

Its gotta be in the low 80s and up for the first class of 75... if that class is in fact true.

You have to factor in all the high scores from the under 5 year guys and theres no way in he** that 75+ people scored a 90 or above.

crane,
i received the same info regarding the "provisionals". My old man is a dinosaur and he said the same exact thing that your crane said, except that the list was not made public. He said that when they did it years ago it was for the needs of the department,just like now, and that they didn't make the list public. So there was technically two active lists but because they didn't kill the first active list (to avoid lawsuits) they didn't make the second list public. I guess that's how they get around the whole two active lists issue. If anyone else can confirm this or has heard the same thing please let us know. I hope they don't do it this way because the only way you'll know you made it before January (if you're on the bubble) is if you have a connection in personnel or they call you prior to getting promoted. Hopefully someone can get a definitive answer for us.

I posted it a month ago they would run both lists! The 7508 list will come out soon, because 2 lists can be run at the same time. EX: NYPD runs the P.O.'s list at the same time all the time think about it.

As cat and bklyninsider has said there is definitly a class going in on Tuesday.

They already have the 75 or so names that are good to go, they may put the names out this afternoon, but can also put them out on friday and still have enough time to notify the people and chart change them.

If you miss the notification because you are one of those guys that don't answer your phone when away from work when you see "NYC Police Dept" on the caller ID, then you deserve to go in the following class, because you are a loser.

I'd bank on the list coming out this friday, but no one really wants to commit to an answer.

those waiting for promotion good luck. the rank is good. it beats being a cop anyday. the responsibility part u can delegate so it's not that bad. if u have good bosses working around u it makes the rank even better. there's always one loser boss, but he/she is still the boss! you'll miss being a cop at first because that's all u know, but those feelings will subside soon enough when u r ready 2 start enjoying the perks. u won't want 2 go back. It's better to be the hammer than the nail. bosses are a lot tighter than cops (workwise). u'll b impressed w/ the 3 year hairbags that think they know eveything because they have been in a sector since they finished impact, and he's the SENIOR GUY bcuz he has an A pick for vacation ( #2 or #3 in their squad). lmao. but overall it's a bosses job now and if u don't realize that by this point in ur career than good luck gettin sh*tted on the rest of ur career.
