If they put in a class each month (sept, oct, nov, dec) of approx 50-75 each class that would be 200-300. Now they could get up to list #400-500 because of ppl with not enough time.
If they are hurting for Sgt.'s like they say are, and they do establish the list in September, I would think it's pretty safe to say that if you have 5 yrs on right now and got above an 80 on this test you will get promoted by 7/1/2009.

If you scored a 70 with 5 years on and have a pulse, I think you will be promoted by July 1, 2009.

If you remember when the list came out last year the first bmoc class went in the week after and they just got to end of the list now not even a year later. I think that as soon as that list comes out they will be promoting they are not going to wait until 09 not July anyway.
I'm not saying they would wait until July 2009. They were to 2 new classes that were able to take this test, the July 2004 and Jan. 2005 both classes graduated around 1,500 cops each as compared to the Jan. 2004 that was only aound 600. Just judging from my Pct. and the cops at the Sgt classes the majority of cops who took the Jan 2008 test were from these classes. Thats why the list # if it is in fact low 700's is larger than Jan. 2007 because you had about 3,000 more cops eligable to take the test. That is also why I feel if you scored around an 80 and have 5 years on right now you will get promoted very quickly b/c majority of this list probably has less than 5 years.

if the majority of this list has less then 5 yrs on the job, what are they going to do with all of those people that are waiting for 5 yrs?? Someone once posted that the job is looking into establishing 2 lists at the same time. In my opinion, thats the only way they are going to be able to meet the minimum maning of Sgt's. They are going to have to start calling people with 5 + yrs off of the 09 test and then backfill those who are on the 08 list that are waiting to hit 5 yrs with those who make the 09 list.
