Edu/Track has a list from DCAS of the top 150 ppl on the 2008 Exam. I would call them in the morning and ask if you are on the List .

Is everyone going to get this letter from edu unit or just those with credit issues? why do they only get the top 150? that doesnt make sense the top 150 may be mostly those with under 5 yrs on regardless of credits. Shouldnt they have the entire list?

It seems to me that they are only sending u a letter if u got a raw 70 or better and they don't have your credits on file. What else is new with this dept. now I have to go to my old college and pay like 12 bucks to have a transcript sent to them which I already did when i got hired. So I have to now waste a day and money to dosomething they should have done already... pathetic

Education/Tracking said it was mainly 928 and 929 tax#'s that had this problem.

hey Cat, What does that mean?  I have a Bachelor's degree filed in the Ed. Tracking Unit when I first got on this job, does that mean I would get a letter or is it for those without enough credits or for those who don't have their updated credits filed? And also, when should people expect to receive these letters?
Thanks for any info!

The people they contacted have something wrong with their credits. for example their credits wasn't verified with the education tracking unit etc........ or something wasn't verified. Also Education and tracking unit wants to see transcripts and verify them.  I suggest everyone go on the nypd web site (intranet education and tracking unit) and verify their credits; just to make sure they have your credits verified.

Thanks for all the good info guys. Almost all of what has been contributed on this board are things that I've also heard from reputable sources. The list is complete, however I'm unsure if it has been stamped. Hopefully, at this point it wil be out within the next two weeks.

cat all the arguments aside...how will there be 75 ppl on sep 2 if the list comes out in mid sep? that doesn't make sense cuz to make 75 ppl they will have to hire off the 08 list.

That's retarded, the list has to come out before another bmoc since the old list is done until january

Sorry, but that does not sound right, how would they hire from a list without making it public? And even more so, why would the hire from a list with out making it public. If you say there is a class going in Sept. 2 then the list should be the Thursday or Friday before. There has to be some sort of civil service law about hiring from a "secret list" of people.

nassau, an inspector i spoke to said that the same thing happened with his list.  They started hiring off of it before he even knew what his list number was...i personally think its retarded but its been done before.

maybe that's what they mean when they say they can hire from two list as long as the second list is not open to public...they can continue to do that until Jan when they hit five years than open it to public...needs of department

They have made provisional Sgt's in the past when a list wasn't out yet but they needed sgt's. That was when they promoted you at the beginning of the sgt's class so they had to make them as provisional.

I just hope that DCAS and the Department puts ouy the LIST or at the very least start hiring from it. Truth of the matter is, this Department is hurting for first line supervisors (Sergeants).
