Anyone who passed the 2008 test....

Is anyone who passed the 2008 test going to take the 2009 test? And i don't mean take it so they can get the day off. Is anyone going to study and take the test. I know it's a stupid question but with the rumors going around with 2007 test about how some guys without time might get screwed I was just wondering.

i passed the 2008 test and i am going to take the 2009 test.  it keeps you on your toes for theLts test when it comes around.  And no, those with less time that passed the2007 test will not get screwed over.

I love the guys that always say "I just wanted the day off."

spend $60, drive into the city, and spend an hour in line, to waste another hour bubbling in answers, to have the rest of the day off? How retarded.

Maybe you never worked in an a house on late tours when you can't get a night off, when you do you'll realize why you want to spend 60$ for a friday night off.

My point exactly, you don't know what an "A" house is, so it would'nt make sense to you. If you knew something you would know if you take the sgt exam and work midnights you get the fri night off to take the test.

Taking a test which you previously passed is a waste of time.

I scored in the low 70s on the 2008 exam.

Would it still be a waste of time to take the 2009 exam?

I mean, couldnt my list number possibly be killed if enough people passed the exam?

My favorite are the guys that said 'i only studied for 2 hours the night before.'

Good job throwing $60 in the garbage. :)

The only time I would worry about dying on a SGT's list is if the list comprised of 1800 names and you fell between 1400-1800.

Now a days if you're on the list, you're a sgt!

Yeah September "makes sense" DCAS will release the list right at the cut off date to sign up for the 2009 exam because those who are worried or unsure about being on the 2008 list will pay the $60 to take the 2009 test just in case.

I got a 68 and of course I'm filing again. What choice do I have? I very well may not pick up the two points. I would think anyone on the cusp would do the same. Of course, they'll hold the list so we can pay the money, don't they always?!

I scored very well on the 08 exam and I will be taking the 09 exam. I'm not going to kill myself studying like I did for the 08 test but I think it would be a good safety net to have. I know that I can study for maybe 3 months @2 hours per day and still pass. My fear is getting caught up in some bull**** and getting suspended, modified etc. Its not like before when a list lasted 3-4 years, now its a year. So you get caught up in something, could be off duty out with your pals one of your drunk friends does something stupid or at work, one of the guys on your team is flaking the whole block etc, etc now you are **** out of luck because by the time you get cleared the list is finished. Anyone who has been jammed up before, and I have, knows that they are in no rush to get you back to full duty. Its a year, easy, and probably more. So it can't hurt to study on meal for an hour and before you go to bed for an hour, just to give yourself a little cushion should you get knocked on your ass.

i am just asking- do you really think that if you scored high on the 2008 test and you get modified- you just wont get promoted?     and that leads me to my second question- if you do get modified what happens with your promotion?

I'm pretty sure that if your suspended, modified, have charges pending or even if your limited they will pass over you. I'm not 100% on what would happen say your modified you get passed over and the list expires. I think thats it for you and that list if it expires. If the list is not expired when you're modified assignment I think you're okay unless you get dismissal probation or somehing along those lines.

How's that being shaky?  How much time do you have on the job?  You dont have to be on too long to see how long it takes to be restored to full duty while modified.  How people make bull**** allegations and the job runs with it.  I know guys who have been in good shootings (meaning justified, grand jury cleared them) and they have been modified for months, and if you are modified and the list expires or whatever the case is, you will not be promoted period.

I wasn't modified after either of my shootings, must've been "questionable" shootings.

How many of you guys drive after having a few drinks? You may think your "good to go" but the rookie nassau cop looking to make a name for himself might not think so. Its not being shaky at all, its called covering your ass. Phil, you have not been in two shootings, stop.

I was only stating that yes I was studying again godforbid something happens. If you passed and are ready to bet your childrens and wife's future on the fact that you make it through a year unscathed then good for you. I will be studying on meal for the next few months, good luck to ya.

I hear you J, but **** happens out there. All I am saying is that we now have the benefit of taking a promotional exam while on a list for another, which wasn't always the case and if it was you knew you weren't getting promoted from your list. It doesn't hurt at all to take this test. I like to have options in life and this test just gives me another avenue should I need it. If guys don't want to study again thats fine, but don't hate on guys that do. Look at the numbers, there are people on this active list that haven't been promoted because of on or off duty issues, you best believe that they are wishing they took the 08 exam.

I think the final answer key will come out after the filling period for the 2009 test this way DCAS will get the ones with 69 and 68 to sign up and get that $60

Flu I think they called in 96 and up for one on one interviews so far, & those people are waiting for medical & stuff. From what I heard they will have small classes and for often (they will be overlapping academy classes).
