Unfortunately, a person can not afford a family and mortage in the rank of a P.O. like it did 15 years ago. Now one has to be at least a detective or sargent. Mike Bloomberg did it!!! He crushed the PBA!!!!!
I'm just glad I'm a detective and passed the 2008 sargent's exam. whew!

Apparently the giveback in the last contract was that you need to be able to spell your desired rank correctly in order to get promoted.

I thought the first 'sargent' was just a misspelling but when i saw the second 'sargent' spelled the same exact way i did a face palm and cried a little inside.
This got me thinking how many of these 'I got a 85 on the test' people are actually talking out of their a55 here. Kind of like the guy who said he got a 65 on the first key and then a 80 on the official dcas key...
That is with the Sergeant contract going to 2010 and the cop contract to 2006
We will be lucky to get to 70k by the end of the 2008 contract and we will be lucky to get to 75k at the end of the 2010 contract. Plus i dont want to even think about the give backs that will go along with both of those contracts.
5 and 5 for 2008 would put us at 71.5k and then 5 and 5 for 2010 would put us at about 78.5k.
5/5/5/5 up to 2010 would still put us 22k less then a SGT. And who here realisticly thinks we will even get four 5's???
