Your right, i can see them skipping april and a class in may with the eligbles w/ more than 5 yrs than a class in july. Do they wait the actual appointment date or the month is all they need? what is the appointment date for the july 5yr guys?
Because Sgts in Bmoc get promoted at the end of bmoc, you can enter bmoc before your 5 yr anniversary so long as the promotion date is on or after your 5 yr anniversary. This is not really an issue with the July 03 class because i believe they were hired on July 1, but will matter with the Jan 04 class which came on Jan 20 thru Jan 30 2004.
I believe there will be a July Class because all those who were passed over due to lack of time have to be made.. Don't know about any of the months in between but I'm putting my money on definitely July Class
I was about to say that if anybody believed can'twait, I have a bridge to sell you. But as he said it was a joke. They also don't know yet if there will be an April class. If I had to take an educated guess I'd say they're skipping April with probably a May class. Definitely a July class. If they skip April and May then possibly a big June class with a July promotion ceremony to get the 5 year people in but that would break tradition of having promotion ceremony on last Friday of the month. But they could do what they did with BMOC 1 this year and start people June 2 and promotion on July 3 skipping the Field Training. Just surmising, this could all be wrong, who knows with this job. But as NYPD 74 said they usually do skip August BMOCs.
i'm probably going to get killed for this but this how i see this playing out for the rest of us waiting for the call. again this is my opinion. first group went in jan they skipped feb and then another in march. i'm guessing they'll skip april and then another class about the same size will be put in may. i then see them skipping jun or putting a class in at the end of jun or beginning of july. thats what i'm put my money on. only time will tell
It's not rocket science, just be patient and hang in there. there is a light at the end of this tunnel for us who passed, and enjoy the down time now. I hope your bosses are taking care of those who are close and see you in bmoc 3 or 4

In truth, you're better off being a veteran cop (even a 5-year guy) than a rookie boss in the summer time. It's much easier getting off as a cop, you'll keep your summer picks (yes you can lose them), you're not as apt to be flown to all those summertime details, etc.
The best case scenario is getting made in September. I got made last fall and I am glad I had that last summer as a PO. I made it count.
NYPD74 has posted this before and he is 100% right - Don't sweat the pace of the list. You passed the test and you will get made eventually. It's a great accomplishment. There's a very different job waiting on the other side of BMOC. So now's the time to kick back and enjoy what little time you have left as a PO. You'll regret it in the end if you waste it worrying about when your number is called.
DOA you are right on with that statement, everyone is in such a rush why not enjoy knowing you'll get made soon and relax. I've been saying that for awile now.
Any updated information in regards to a BMOC 3 going in for April? Using history as a guide they are probably going to skip April and put a class in for May but nothing makes sense on this job so nothing is for sure. Whatever the case may be, it would be nice if someone would keep us posted with anything new.
Already told no torches will be passed for the foreseeable future reagardless of how many bosses we get. I guess I didn't screw up enough . . . go figure!
Come April I'll have 6 months and filling out 57s a plenty. Knowing my luck of late, I'll be shanghied by IAB and jamming up cops by Christmas.

Nothing happening for April. Standby for a May 5th class. If there is a class for May rumors will start leaking by the week of April 21, and the Finest confirmation would come down April 30th, usually late afternoon or early evening. The job likes to make us sweat. As for me I'm changing my name to "paroled" as of 1400 hrs tomorrow. BLC/BMOC was the halfway house. FYI BLC/BMOCs are enjoyable in my opinion. It may get boring at times but you're practically on a paid vacation. Instructors are very good. Good luck to all Exam 6513 listees, they will get to you, as long as you're not a jam up.
Congrats Paroled! your info seems to be intelligent majority of the times, So I wanted to here from you on your thoughts about them waiting for the january 2009 people before they kill that list, or do you think they will promote jointly from '07 '08 tests to get those guys in. By the way did you get your #1 pick in the dream sheet.
Thanks Chief. In my opinion I think every eligible body off 6513 will be made, except for the jam ups. As for the 2 promotionary lists being out at the same time, I don't think it will or could (civil service law) happen. Some guys with more time and experience might know because some people say it's happened in the past. To tell you the truth I was hoping it would have happened last year but I had to wait almost a year (10 months) for the list to come out. A lot of it has to do with Civil Service Law also. They could have made the 600+ bodies in 8 months with the traditional 75 body BMOCs. Didn't happen. 600+ list lasted about 15 months. That list came out in Oct 2006. First BMOC class was Nov 2006, last class was Dec 2007. Exam 6513 list came out Dec 2007 with first BMOC Jan 2007. I've talked to people who say they won't wait until Jan 2009 for about 20 people and that they'll kill the list. I just don't think the department will do that. What would help you if some higher ups relative in that 20 something group who have to wait for Jan 2009 for their 5 years of time. If I were a betting man I'd bet on Jan 2009 guys going into BMOC right after the new year's detail. List 6513 hits the 1 yr anniversary Dec 2008. You might be in BMOC with the top of the class for this past Jan 2008 exam.
FYI got my 1st choice on dream sheet but to tell you the truth I didn't care after my 2nd choice. This "dream sheet" wasn't my dream. Picking 10 commands is a joke. They do it so you can't say anything when you get your 9th pick which you didn't want because you're mandated to pick 10. They even say that if you pick something not on the list or pick only 2 or 3 commands that your sheet is null and void and they give you whatever the heck they want.
