deblowsio passed the new city budget 1300 recruits going in the academy in july.  Hope that will make the promotions pickup

It definitely should. The new cops need new supervisors. I was actually surprised that deblowsio caved and agreed to add so much.

DeBlasio didn't cave, the expected hire was 1500 all along, of course the media spins it as he did something good for the city. There are two systematic hires per year barring an economic crisis. Here's to August 2015.

I heard the same thing. I'll believe it when I see it, you know how this job can be. If it is true there will be a lot of happy people out there.

As it stands now it is slotted for 100 bodies entering bmoc on aug 3. But as we all know nothing is final until the FINEST comes down.

Even if all the hold overs go in theres only 32 of them. That would still be 68 more bodies

bmoc now can use 116 person rooms. So a class of 100 would not be out of the question.

100 would leave it at 88 plus the 32 holdovers so 120 people remaining.

I won't believe it until I see it though

Google the holdover names. Most are collars and jam ups that likely won't get made and die on the list.

Let's be generous and say 12 out of the 32 make it, that will be 100 remaining. Possibly 2 more BMOC classes remaining if the rumor of 100 guys/gals going in August is true. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Sounds really high but not implausible, terminal buyout recently took effect which is probably driving the dinosaurs out and the department is expanding the headcount by 1300. I think if we were gonna start seeing 100 count classes it would be now.

I've been reading this site for years and the answer to all these questions on classes and tests hasn't changed - NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT.... It's as simple as that. Doesn't matter if there had been a Bmoc class in August for 12 years straight or not. I kinda get a little sick that this is the mentality of my coworkers and to see the limited mental capacity on this site.. If needs of the dept permit then there will be a LT test every year for the next 10 years.. There is no secret formula to figuring this all out.. If you ask BRAT she can get the up to date info but even that can change within that day. These rumors are really retarded and it's funny how cmds all spread the most current ones on here but they all claim the "don't read the site"

Rule 1 - NEEDS OF THE DEPT
Rule 2 - see rule #1

It's really that simple

I agree with rule #1.

With so many sergeants going to SRG, the Department needs a bigger class than the usual.

This job is sooo slow with everything from promotions to contracts. Test was given almost 4 years ago and still is over 100 names away from being finish and I know all the commands are short sgt but I don't understand y they just don't promote should be no reason for down month if you need the man power smh we will have 3000 more cops by the end of next year so the need for supervision is def needed just don't understand the hold up smh!!!

Between units like SRG, CRC coming online, terminal buyout incentives, precinct shortages, and an extra 1300 cops being added to the payroll, the "needs of the department" should be quite high right about now.

Here's a little advice for you new-jack BMOC hopefuls. You DON'T have to do that bull crap easy they tell you to do.. If they insist then you hand in an overtime slip with it cause then don't give you job time to do it. And nowhere in the NOE for the 2011 test did it say you must complete an essay in order to be promoted.

I second this. I printed some B.S. "what makes a good leader", or something similar straight off the internet. I kept it verbatim, and it was all good. Don't even waste a minute of your time overthinking it. No one reads it.

So lets not do what bmoc requires you to do. Real smart considering they have they power to put you wherever there f#$k they want to. Have fun with a miserable commute. In my bmaoc a few chosen ones decided not to do the required essay. To say the least they didn't get Manhattan south.

What essay are you guys talking about? I was in the last bmoc class and we didn't have to do any essay. Some people didn't even show up to half the bmoc classes and everyone was fine. Stop shaking out already.

Did you get Manhattan South shakebox?   Learn to read with comprehension first. I did not telling anyone not to do it. I simply stated that you need not give it much thought as no one reads the essays. Also, Uniform Promotions Unit (what you referred to as "bmoc") does not have to power to put you anywhere. The orders come from Personnel Bureau.

Wow the fear on this forum over not doing a stupid essay lol and NO you don't have to do it! I'm sure the guys in your BMOC didn't have hooks and that's why they got the lousy cmds.. You act as if they actually teach you ANYTHING at all about being a boss in BMOC and I don't want you to learn. You're probably a cop that believes he learned something in the academy too
