Id imagine between June and July there will only be 1 promo at most. Gonna be all hands on deck here this summer

Is there somewhere that has the amount of LT. promoted every month since the start of the list?

The positive to all this is that atleast Lts are being put in. Last year there were a few classes of 0 lts. Few buddies of mine stated that class sizes will increase in the coming months.

Does anybody have the past each month's number of promotions since they started promoting from the list?

Didnt they promote like 100 sergeants in a class right before the 2017 lieutenant exam? Wander if theyll do something similar for the Captain exam. This added more candidates, but how do you prepare if you dont think youll be promoted by then.

I could see them doing a real big September class like that. The problem is between June July and August there is no way they are doing anything too substantial. Need too many cops and bosses on the street then. So a massive September class will just make up for the slow summer.

This makes sense, its just hard to find motivation to spend your summer studying waiting for the big one.

Going to be honest with you, i get the positivity but reaching back to 2017 is a bit of a stretch.

More reasonable to go back to 2022 when about 100+ Lts were left without a shot to take the 2022 Captains test.

Maybe they didnt need more then the 1,000+ who had already made Lt to sign up, but I think if it was something they made a

priority or even seriously looked at they would have pushed through those last 100 or so. But who knows, maybe your right and

this time they wont have enough signups so theyll push people through.

Definitely see your point, just wandering if putting in one big class before the test could happen. Im sure many paid for a course by now, with these small classes its just a matter of how hard can you go if youre in that maybe yes very possibly no scenario.

Thats a good question that should be answered because this does affect peoples careers. Dont tell us how many are going in the next class, but atleast let people know what number will be reached before the exam.

I agree, the job needs to put a number on what list number will be reached before exam day, so that their employees can plan accordingly. Instead we have to guess and pray to get reached before the exam time comes.

616 people applied to take the Captain exam. I would say a decent amount are people not yet promoted to Lt.

They still will let you apply if you get promoted before exam date correct?

I feel confident about a June class, but as weve seen the last few months is anyones guess until the very end. We can just hope they end this 10 a month nonsense.

If you get promoted after the filing date I heard DCAS will let you apply for the exam after that. Not sure how that process works though.

Some of those dont go into effect until mid July. I believe when they are on terminal it still counts towards vacancies.

In the next month well reach the lowest Lt. headcount weve seen in YEARS. Theres no way we dont get at least 1 big class soon. Lets hope for the best

We shall see. Commanders keep complaining that all commands are short Sgts/Lts during stat meetings. Higher ups acknowledge but continue to promote the lowest numbers possible.

I think that this is not logical, but does anyone think that lowering the head count is somehow in some distant plan? This whole shortages and small classes dont make sense.

i will admit, I had become a little skeptical with these small classes but these numbers definitely raise our hopes of a descent size class.
