Yes its 12-13k more. So about 6000 extra a year upon retirement or 500 extra a month before taxes.

how does that work for Tier 3? Do they just calculate everything off that DI # or is just one year added into your best 3 consecutive

I would believe you retire with your pension being the FAS of a top pay DI salary.

They calculate your Final Average Salary and then add the DI pay difference, which is appx 12k right now. Like brooklyn and others have said, extra 6000 a year, or 500 a month added to your pension.

$500 a month is a car payment. So definitely work staying on for 5 years if you make captain.
