Only reason would be if you want to advance above captain and or build your resume for a post NYPD job. Theres a lot of a** kissing with that rank though youll have to go to parties and drink fine wine and eat luxury steaks with the boys

If you are asking, go with your gut. More money isnt everything. I see all the time i missed with my kids and cant imagine how much more Ill miss being a captain. Already turned the rank down to stay in my gig as a LT. Only thing im pissed about is the time I wasted studying. Do whats best for you family.

 Honestly, you shouldn't! 

UNLESS you have aspirations of moving up the ranks. Your pay and quality of life will take a HUGE hit. But again, to be a Chief, you have to be in the game.
