Captain exam

What number do you realistically think will be eligible for the next captains exam? List seems to be moving in the right direction but it will slow down eventually. They say thats the pinnacle of your career because you know how the game is played after that but Captain salary is definitely worth a shot, any guesses.

List is already over a year old, so based on that it would probably be sometime in 2026. But yeah, most likely, bottom 1/4 of Lts list wont be made in time

Everyone is being made. They will extend the list. Stop with this. Do your time, wait and take the next one.

Lol comprehension level 0. 1/4 of LTs list not being promoted IN TIME to take the captains exam. No one said the whole LT list is not being made.

They will extend cpt list so whole LT list will be made in time. Everyone will be eligible just like the last exam

Not everyone from the last one made it. But this captains list is way larger. Everyones gonna be able to take the next one.

Does anyone know how long it would take to get a college degree online? Is it better to see how the test goes in a couple of years and if youre on the list or would it take too long by then and is better earlier and take the chance on just trying to get it Sooner.

Chance either way. Better to get it than not tho. It can be used after this job etc. I know a few friends who had to defer classes while getting their credits. You want to get promoted asap. Contracts can change but more importantly you want to get di pension inspector pension chief pension and you can only do that by getting promoted as soon as your score allows

Thanks for the info, I guess is like the old saying better to have and not need than to need and not have. I was just asking because for me that would be the only reason to try to finish my degree right now.

So it depends how hard you want to go. Theres an online school called Ashford University regionally and nationally accredited with 5 week courses. Also another place called American Military University with 8 week courses all online. Bang that degree out while you have the time. Thank me later. I got my Associates and Bachelors at those places and they look the same on a resume.

Highly suggest NyPD Leadership at john jay, got my bachelors in like 2 years while working. Never step foot in a classroom, and the leadership program offsets the cost.
