I see that there are 7 POs that were originally hired on 1/3/2019 and therefore have been passed over for not having 5 years on the job. They however will be eligible for the next Sgt promotion. Am I correct that they wont go straight to top pay Sgt since they wont be at top pay PO? Putting it out there that they might want to defer promotion for 6 months in order to get top pay PO so that they go to top pay Sgt when promoted.

They will go to the first step. My friend was promoted in October before hitting top pay and he is at the first step sergeant pay. You can always opt to defer promotion till you hit to pay or take the promotion and keep time in rank. have to figure out what works best for you.

So if they settle whenever they do, step 1 would get bumped to whatever the new step 1 would be?

That is correct, and that step one will be at least slightly higher than top pay PO.

looking at "pattern" base pay step 1 sergeant was 96,017 where base pay top pay PO was 85,292 so there was a 10,725 difference. it would be safe to assume the new base pay step one sergeant would be 115-119k if they keep that 10k difference. so the sergeants at step one would go from 96k to the 115-119k and current sergeants retroed to the "correct" pay so they would not be making less than a PO.

But you know what they say about making assumptions. Well see when the SBA settles their new contract.

Dont think this would be the case. I believe they still have vacancies and every SGT they promote to lt

creates another one. So lets hope it speeds it up if anything.

Probably January 26th. I think it should be the last Friday of the month as long as it's not a holiday week. January 2023 was the last Friday.

Anyone see the Capt thread? Dr papi doesnt think there will be a captains class in January. Assuming it would be the same for Sgts. Hopefully they dont take months off?

Not trying to rag on you but I guarantee I'm not the only one that finds it so amusing. Find another hobby to keep your mind busy for the next 2-3 years. No one wants to hear your complaining anymore. I'm sure most people feel the same way you do. Nothing about this process can be predicted certainly not months in advance.

They may have confirmed 75 LTs but haven't confirmed anything else. This happens every month. I cant remember which month it was but there was no sergeants this month and then like 3 days before, god tier Lionel says it was 70 sgts.

I dont need to worry anymore. Im just telling you guys what a three star CHIEF told us on Wednesday when he came to speak to us.
