Will the SBA gives us the courtesy of an email today? Or continue to leave us in the dark for the next few months?

While the 1200+ of us bargain bin Sgt's still continue to work and try to make ends meet, the union continues to say they're fighting for us. They're not. This isn't new. Unions always sell someone out. We are it. And I have news for you, the other 3,000+ Sgt's in this union give zero fucks about us, Vinny included. The 96xxxx top pay Sgt's and the senior ones close or ready for retirement. We get burned on this one. Just get a fucking contract already. This will all happen over again next round of agreements years from now. The union doesn't learn. Luckily for me I'm out in a couple years (hopefully.)

Why cant the union at least send out an email to get input from its members about the 12 hour tours? At least we can feel like our opinion counts since this seems to be the holdup.

Vinny is too busy for that. Hes working extra OT to make this contract happen. The only members that really care are the ones making 96k. Go ask a top pay Sgt and see how worried they are about the contract.

Even more annoying than the 965 tax top pay FIO sergeants are the cops who are on the list that can?t stop talking about how glad they are that contract talks have stalled again so that the top pay dream is still alive. Yes, I will continue to live paycheck to paycheck so that you may get money you aren?t entitled to in two years.

Not sure if Vinny plans to keep us in the loop so I tracked down the minutes myself

Exactly. No one gives a fuck about us, not even our leaders. Were nothing but pawns to them in their game. Theyre financially secured & dont need to rush to get more money while us dopes struggle day in and day out, dont ever let me hear a PO say some stupid shit that theyre happy it stalled or hope it goes another year or two so they can make it, I have no problem cursing people out on this job. Were all a bunch of shmucks in the group chat while the rest of the dept laughs at our misery and continues to root for it. I will get promoted, and I will cross that stage in from of little dick Vinny and I will tell him to go fuck himself after I shake hands with the PC, so I hope hes reading this chat.

These mother fuckers sold us out in 2021, adding a step to top pay for fucking bullshit trash raises that Smalls dick said was a great financial decision, fucking scumbags all of them, now we can fucking accept a tour to make everything right for everyone?! They just keep selling us out. I truly truly truly hope this dumb fuck gets voted out.

The minutes indicate that the MOA was verbally agreed upon. Alot of the delegates who were in attendance advised members that the MOA was signed. Which one was it? I don't trust this board as is.

RE: "Vinny's got 'em by the Balls" MEGATHREAD

I mostly came to terms with it last night and Im not against every current sergeant going straight to top pay as most ranks are underpaid.  The money is better off in every MOS bank account over city coffers.  And me and the 1199 other sergeants in my boat dont truly have a right to the top pay being retroactive.  But after having a chance it sleep on it, it seems unfathomable to me that we would accept a contract where sergeants promoted years later will have made so much more money over this time period and it will never be rectified.  How much more money is it in the grand scheme of things to bump us all to top pay as of July 2023?  What does it compare to like a day of money spent on migrants?

I think its worth some back of the napkin math to figure out just how bad off we are. I am lousy with this stuff, but can anyone who isnt figure out the rough sum of what a 97K sergeant would be making under the proposed contract as of, July/August 2023 and forward vs whatever top pay would be as of those dates? I somehow think these figures will be missing from whatever union communications we may or may not receive. Im guessing its roughly a 20K difference.

That's if it's his month to go to the ceremony, otherwise he'll just send the treasurer.

The 1200 of us (less than that now, obviously) need to figure out how to get together and start a class action lawsuit to sue the city/our union or both when this new garbage contract passes. Boomer Sergeants will vote yes literally no matter what the contract says at this point, so we're going to lose even if we all vote no. Many of us probably stand to lose over 50k in retro by going to top pay Dec 2025 instead of of July 2023. Vinny has obviously immediately given up on trying to get us retro'd to top pay, and has sold us out once again. People promoted after us have not only been paid more this entire time, their retro will be significantly more than ours too.

Top Pay Retro from 2023 > 12hr tours differential

Exactly. We need the new pay scale a lot more than worrying about 12hr tours. Vinny has his head straight up his ass if he thinks otherwise.

For what its worth, my delegate is swearing up and down that not going to top pay retroactively isnt true.  However, hes not saying its not possible.  He said Vinny didnt specify whether it was happening or not.  LOL so even the delegates dont know

Kind of indicative of many of the problems we have in representation that not one of the been-at-top-pay-forever delegates didnt think to inquire about that point. It only effects about 2000 members of the union- a fringe group.

 SBA Meeting:

    1.    Changing step 4 of pay scale. Currently as of 2024 115,016 to 12/10/25 119,617. Giving up 5 mins wash up time. Sgts would be above cops at step 4. Everyone would go to top pay. Everyone would get retro-  guys going to top pay would get retro based on the scale they were at. Not a top pay scale.

SBA Board Needs to be Removed

We should start focusing our efforts on removing the board and ensuring that the vp doesnt slide into the big seat. This forum has over a million views- which means it has a ton of reach. After the last three days, I must admit Im shocked that the SBA didnt feel the need to put out correspondence. I am the biggest critic of them but even I thought theyd have the chutzpah to address the issues. The inept board needs to go.

The SBA has no leverage. They gave away all the leverage in the world the last round of negotiations and now these are consequences as a result.

Put the contract out for a vote to the membership to determine if this contract is also worth accepting 12 hour tours.

I think the financial complications for many have reached a point where the basic salary raises are needed that delaying the contract dispute over 12 hour tours, which appears inevitable, seems like another bad SBA decision.

The whole situation is a mess but if you showed your hand the last contract round, you can't be surprised the city is trying to get everything they can now. The city, it turns out, has Vinny by the balls.

New president.

Setting up a donation site for new SBA president campaign is a must. Funds to distribute information and coordination is must. These baboons have our resources to campaign little Guy has no chance. We need to change that. I believe in the future and whats right for all, not just the senior guys.

I guess we will have to wait until the next SBA meeting in April to find out since the board loves to keep its members in the dark.

Remember back in October 2023 and last month when they said do not listen to rumors and only trust information direct from the SBA. It is funny because these morons seem to forget to send updates and then expect us not to fall to rumors or speculation.

Their plan is to wait for the mediator to tell them that 12hr tours are a fair ask. Vinny will then cry and want us to hold out until next year.

How much does does it cost for a full page story in the NY Post. I'm willing to pay $200 which is probably $100 more than my 4.5 year sgt retro to embarrass the union and city.

Can’t make this up

Happy national equal payday Vinny!! How about you address the social security offset for tier 3 members instead of this stay 25 years incentive. Dont even have to collect social security and the pension will be reduced by half of what your social security benefit will be. Terrible law that these old geezer Sgts could not give one crap about. The correction officers and sanitation have a bill introduced in the senate to help get rid of it for their members only. From this union not a peep. Why would I care to stay 25 years if the benefit is going to get wiped out by this rule. Voting you out

I know the pba has introduced the same bill the last few years and it dies on the floor each year. I would imagine if it passes for the pba all other unions would get it as well. Theres tier 3 captains now. But I agree, horrendous law where one has nothing to do with the other. But these dinosaurs who stay on wayyy longer than they should including Lynch, let this shit happen. But do nothing about it because it doesnt affect them so why should they care.

The ones that went to top pay dont care about the 1,200 and the 1,200 dont are about the dinosaurs, the dinosaurs dont care about either. Whoever eventually runs the show hopefully will try to change this way of thinking amongst the union.

Tier 3 fixes and really anything Albany-related should be done in concert/coalition between PBA/DEA/SBA/LBA/CEA. Pathetic that Sanitation and Corrections have their shit together and the police dont. This whole every-rank-has-their-own union thing really isnt working out too well for us.
