New SBA Contract

There was a reason why unions didnt want to wait for pba to settle. In early 2000 I believe 2005 pba accepted a contract that brought starting pay to 26k to fund raises. Well the other unions had to replicate those givebacks but they couldnt lower starting pay like pba was able to which created nightmare givebacks for the unions. So paint the whole picture before you knock unions settling before or after pba. Each situation has potential for negative results

Just some food for thought never accept zeros in contract talks. Look at how much the zero contracts during the Giuliani era set us back. Those deals created a ripple effect thats still being felt across our unions today, and honestly, well never fully recover from that. Negotiating with the city isnt simple its a long, back and forth process. To get a fair deal, it takes time and a lot of work. We all need to stay positive and united. In the end getting a contract thats beneficial for all will take time to sort out. Its gonna be an uphill battle with trials and tribulations, but in the end will be fruitful. Rushing and taking the quick deal is not always the good solution.

That actually makes me want to knock the SBA more. They haven't adapted after something that happened twenty years ago? It sounds like the SBA board has too many baby boomers on it. Something the PBA did twenty years ago is abysmal reasoning for making the same mistakes repeatedly at the cost of your membership, and then refusing to accept any responsibility for those mistakes.

3 years without a contract is unacceptable and should not be the norm for contract negotiations. We have lost a ton of money in interest/credit card bills/inflation/pensions/deferred. With that being said, we arent getting a contract for at least another year so everyone plan accordingly.and fuck you vinnie

Pardon me...I know I'm late. But I need you to know... I laughed so hard I choked and spit up gatorade everywhere, ruining a brand new shirt and I am not even upset. Bravo at that reply sir. Bra-vo!

Protesting outside of city hall is weak as shitwe should be protesting outside the SBA office..how much money is the city making off the interest of all the money they owe All the active members along with all the unfinalized retired sergeants since December of 2021?! We wont settle till January of 2026 at earliest.just so the city can start this pattern all over again and keep us out of contract...does anyone here know the last time we were actually in contract?!the Union wont bring that up tho.i wonder why

Those ads with Nebraska and Seattle unions backing us are very cringe worthy. What the fuck are they thinking

If Seattle PD, Nebraska State PD and Anchorage PD all start showing supports in ads, then the city will have no choice but to back down and give us a contract

Vinny the cuck has allowed us to be out of contract for over 3 years and we havent been current since December of 2018.

These guys are embarrassing

PSA: Anyone with less than three years in rank shouldn't be showing up to Vinny's protest on January 9th. Let all the Boomer Sergeant's that put us in this position go stand out there.

Don't forget, it wasn't the city that did this to us. It was all of the "senior" Sergeants that jumped at the chance to deepthroat zeroes and give backs just to fuck us and every Sergeant after us in return for pennies in the last contract.

Despite all Vinnie's emails blaming the city, it was our own coworkers that did this to us. Good luck out there in the cold

I got my tinfoil hat on, but with no sergeants going in this month and this randomly organized protest at city hall, I have a feeling theres already a deal and Vinnie wants him and his goons to look good. A deal will be announced after the protest and he will take credit for it due to the protest. Guess we will see

Thats absolutely 100% true. Every Sgt that voted YES to that trash contract is just as liable as LittleShlong. Debts keep piling up. Interest on overage we keep losing. Retro money thatll be overtaxed that I cant invest. Fallen completely behind inflation. These fucktards enjoy nice steak dinners every month.

After this corrections incident- look at late 2026 for a contract. 2025 is going to be wild.

So much for cutting back on OT. The whole department is going to be working. Just in time for Trumps inauguration. Right back where we left off 4 years ago.

Vinny the cuck wants to hold the meeting on the city hall steps to gain media attention. Its possible it gets more media attention than the AMNY article but doubtful.

In regard to Vinny's newest bright idea to have a bunch of white sergeants protest a black mayor at his re-election campaign at the Apollo Theater. Great optics. I'm sure that'll get the people on our side.

Dear Fellow Sergeant,

I am writing to you to call for your participation in our ongoing contract battle with Mayor Adams and the Office of Labor Relations.

As you know, three years have passed since our last contract expired.

Although the major financial issues for a new contract have been resolved, such as raises of 18.77%, there remains one major point of contention- the fair treatment of those Sergeants, like yourself, who were promoted prior to August 1, 2023.

We have held steadfast that the SBA will not agree to a contract where senior Sergeants continue to earn far less than junior Sergeants or the police officers they supervise.

Accordingly, we are planning a major rally in front of the Apollo Theater located at 253 West 125th Street on January 9, 2025, where the Mayor will present his annual State of the City address.

Together, let's let the Mayor and the rest of the City hear our combined voices of displeasure for the disrespect that the Mayor and the Office of Labor Relations have exhibited towards us.

We are counting on you to show up and demonstrate that we will not tolerate their indifference to your plight any more.

We will provide additional details for the rally in the coming days, but mark your calendar now and make sure you are there!

It's time for all hands on deck!

As easy as its been to come on internet forum and talk badly about union, I doubt 5% of you will go to rally. As ridiculous as it sounds and as frustrated as everyone is with what has happened thus far, nothing can change whats been already done. If you really are upset then show up and participate. All the media will be there.

..or just come back to forum and complain how no one show up and union isnt doing anything.

last thing Adams needs right now is his cops protesting him.

100 percent

I am taking the day and showing up. I think Vinny is useless and I blame him for signing that tentative deal that put us in this mess. However I am still going. The better a turnout we have the better chance we have of making an impact.

All of this talk on this forum myself included. means nothing unless you take action this is our chance to make a profound statement and be heard

30 people outside protesting is not going to help but I can guarantee 400 or more will make news and put some heat on the Mayor to get this settled or risk having another protest

Fake news going around. Vinny is holding a meeting to give out the logistics for the protest.

Take a look at what's going on with this administration right now. The mayor doesn't give a rats ass about half his administration getting indicted and daily scandals, you think a couple hundred out-of-contract Sgts protesting in Harlem is going to do anything at all?  Honestly it'll probably make it even worse. Diplomacy is needed, of which this union board has zero.

I will be there! You should encourage others to go as well. Encouraging the opposite seems counterproductive. If anything its a photo op and to get it out in the news in nyc. We can decide after how affective its but at least try.

Youre all a bunch of suckers if you think for one second this will achieve anything. SBA & City will find any excuse to buy more time. Im still surprised no SGTs went in last class & Im curious to know how many will go this month. People are running for the exit. This LT exam will be run thru faster than Eddies jail sentence. Eddie will be out before theres a contract.

"SBA is having a meeting with the city on Monday 1/6 and the city requested to stop the rally scheduled for 1/9. SBA is not cancelling the rally as of yet, just incase the meeting on monday does not go well. SBA Board will give update on the rally status on Tuesday

This is the rumor going around, well see if its true

The new PC is taking this seriously. I do not think there will be another sergeant class until this is settled. She sees the money that is being lost for no reason by putting new cops straight to top pay.

Every year at this same time, the same rumor goes around, no classes until summer. Happens every time.

200+ leave the job every month and theres a huge class that just made 20. They could go maybe another month or two before vacancies get too high.

That is where I think you could be wrong.

Every once in a while I see an inflatable rat with 20 workers outside a construction site. In that instance you are correct That does nothing. If they do hold a rally and it is small yes that will do nothing

However if have 400 Sergeants taking over the sidewalk and spilling into the streets and the press picks it up. Yes that will make a difference. Now is the perfect time for more bad press about the NYPD with everything else going on. Assuming there is no other big news to drown it out it may make the front page news and that might achieve something. Even if it doesnt achieve anything, we dont have a chance if no one shows up and all this complaining on here is for nothing unless you take action.
