New SBA Contract

I had more faith in Patty Lynch with no contract for 7 years than I do with the SBA.

Get ready everybody !!! Uncle Vinnys annual golf club game is almost upon us !!! And if you are negative about this joyous event, youre just a hater and an ungrateful loser who dares question the great uncle Vinny. Praise the SBA for our low paychecks and low quality of life !!! True SBA members would do this job for free and enjoy helping the public out

No wonder Mullins was stealing right under their noses. This board is incompetent, every day that passes without a contract is a failure I cannot wait for a board election

The PC is getting grilled about the budget at public hearings, yet the city is promoting five-year wonders to top pay because of their failure to settle this contract. The SBA should be capitalizing on this. selling out the unborn is one thing, Vallelong is selling out his own current members. completely despicable

Unborn shouldnt be sold out anyway. Theyre the future of the union and how are they going to feel when something comes up that affects the retirees that screwed them in the first place

Agreed that unborn shouldnt be sold out, wed all be better off if they (we) werent. There is nothing as far as I can see that dictates that right now is the time to address the issue. Future problems can be prevented by negotiating alongside the PBA for the next round. A significant portion of the current membership is unjustly suffering real harm every day that the agreed-upon pattern isnt taken.

Not sure how getting more his members to top paying is selling out his own people. In fact the opposite

I guess the most accurate way to put it is that hes selling out a very specific subset of his own people- badly.

Hes gotten roughly 600 members to top pay. Honestly he didnt even do it himself, labor relations figured it out because he is such a moron, dont even give it him the credit for it. Hes fucking over thousands of sergeants not getting this deal done who are stuck at 97k

This goes way deeper then just talking about the new sgts at top pay or myself who's stuck at 97k.

This started IMO to contract settlements ago, where the SBA settled before the PBA and got less. (The 2 1/4% "NCO" pay or "BWC" pay, whatever you want to call it) The SBA didn't get it because they fucked themselves and settled before the PBA.

The next contract, again settled before the PBA, they settled for 1 percent back pay for the 3 years they didn't get the "NCO" pay. With a give back of adding a year to top pay. What I was told by the SBA delegate in my command at the time, because I was the unborn at the time of the settlement, they want the most for their members. So they not only did the city a favor and settled with a giveback, but also again before the PBA. Translation, we don't give a fuck about you, the 8k I get for the 1 percent backpay is more important then adding a year to top pay. Also, that same contract the PBA settled, no givebacks.

Now for this contract they have backed themselves into a corner and made the rank so unappealing they have to hold out. One can make the argument, at this moment without all the background they are making the correct move and holding out for the best deal, in addition to getting more of its members direct to top pay.

But the past fuckery and bad decisions have led themselves here. I do not trust this union. And no I never expected them to negotiate the 97k group to top pay. That's unrealistic. Its also illadvised to let this "leadership" off the hook for the last few contracts because they were apart of it.

It's frustrating that I have to do a job that is letting inflation put things that should not be out of reach, out of reach, because of its own incompetence I saw coming years ago. But I was just the stupid cop. Fuck this union. Can't wait to be promoted.

Yea this union is filled with Incompetent Cowards that clearly dont care about their own members. I cant wait for the next round of indictments for when they catch these guys up to the same stuff Mullins was. I say every SGT making less than cops should shut down dont do shit until your properly compensated. And I strongly urge after they settle the contract to seek legal counsel outside of the job and see what options are available to sue to force the city to change the pay steps, I don't know if there is any legal action available that the Union hasn't already signed away to sell us out. But its always best to do your own research and see what options are available because this Union has made it clear that they don't fight for their own people.

SBA is the worst union on the job, allows Supervisors to be the lowest paid Members Of Service in the Department its a disgrace.

SBA is still having daily communications with the City, and that its not in our best interest for the details to be talked about on a public forum.

Im guessing, but you all know that it is accurate lol

Understand this at these meetings There will never be a real update. The actual settlement will come out of the blue when their ready, AKA when they put enough SGT at top pay to pass whatever Bull***t contract that sells out all those stuck at the old steps. So if your in a busy house like I am just accept your screwed for next 4 years While you run around like an animal while your Limited TS is making 30K more than you. lol

Great Job SBA

you may be right. but having everyone going straight to pay pay is the only bargaining chip they got to possibly have a chance at making it right for those who got screwed. At this point you can sign and get fucked or play your  hand and see what u can get for it.

Vinny and the boys have the city right where they want them. Looks like another 125 top pay SGTs coming in hot this week. Ill just continue to enjoy my 97k and be thankful that I have a job. Or as most delegates would say, you didnt have to take the promotion. I cant wait for the PBA to get its next raise in August. Really show us how great the SBA is

Unfortunately it seems more likely we will not be settling any time soon. And the most likely outcome is they Will Not fix the pay disparity for SGT who are not yet at top pay. Just as in the past a lawsuit will have to filed by individual SGT on their own after the contract is settled if this is the case. However since the SBA gave up the Reopener Clause in the last contract I don't believe that is even possible. Its really a tough situation for any SGT dealing with this. I still firmly believe if the SBA was truly fighting on our behalf then they should have pressed the issue that every SGT should be bumped to Top Pay from day one of the discussions but everything the SBA has said and done so far has not reflected this at all. They have shown time and time again that their priorities do not focus on their membership. Bottom line they took a bad deal last time and now SGT are suffering for it.

During the previous contract negotiations, the big justification for the extra year to top pay for the unborn was that the SBA was looking out for the CURRENT union membership. Looking at todays situation, that justification appears to fall flat on its face. But say they are working on it for the troops, they sure aren't relaying the information in a way that inspires confidence. The last contract email we got was on Jan 11th, maybe it's time for another one.

Hang in there guys and girls. LBA website is amazing. You can order PBA cards and all union meetings are posted with date time and location. Everyone is invited!

I firmly believe most people on this forum will be LT by the time they fix this Contract. From what I heard the timeline on the contract is looking like next Summer maybe because the PBA will be out of contract again. That rumor came from a Trustee apparently If anyone heard something similar please share.

^that is insane. At this point the promotion is the only chance we have to make more than our cops. No job in the world do supervisors at any point make less than subordinates and still show up to work

Well as I said a lawsuit might be the course of action to correct it if the SBA doesn't. But again I dont know if legally we can anymore.

Its a shot in the dark and worth investigating- if anyone knew the attorney/firm who got results in the previous action, thatd be a good place to start.

The issue with that is that most of us on here are on the Lt list, therefor no one on here will be willing to actually put in the leg work with finding this information out via private attorneys. A large portion will probably be hitting top pay soon which leaves a small portion suffering until who knows when.

Not all. Ill make LT before I hit top pay, whats fair is fair for all. Last contract royally fucked a lot of us. I tried telling SGTs it wasnt a good deal but who was gonna listen to a PO. And here we are.

Curious how this would work-

Considering these union goons probably wont settle any time this year- If I have the money and am at top pay $135 511- do I go to top pay after the contract is settled since Ill get promoted in the next few classes? Or do I stay at step one and go through the 4 steps? I dont trust this union.

As of 3/16/24 bottom pay LT is 135,595. If you are promoted to LT before a contract you will go to that step and have 3 years to top pay LT. If you get promoted after a contract is settled you will go to the next highest step for LT, which presumably would be top pay. Since you have the money, Im assuming you are in a decent spot, so financially it would be beneficial to defer. The contract is taking forever but it will be done before the 3-4 years from now it would take you to hit top pay LT through the actual steps.

These unions are fucking up whole reason for being promoted. At least as a Lt, if my sgt makes more than me, hes doing all the work. Screwed over sgts dont have that luxury.
