Just assume this is not getting settled until next year. Or beyond but even then thats if the PBA sits down and actually settles in 2025, we may have to wait closer to end of 2026 after another 1500 SGT are sent straight to top pay while everyone else is stuck at 97,000. Its just clear incompetence and just reflects how poorly our union has handled this.
Its clear the city & the SBA have decided whats best for them is to sacrifice 1400 SGTs. In their minds, ppl are going to get promoted or retire & that # will dwindle down & each passing month theyll give a shit less. This union can truly, undoubtedly, can go fuck itself.

Seems like they have no choice but to leave those sergeants hanging. That, or agree to givebacks that will impact all sergeants indefinitely.
Its alot harder for me to care about those promoted here on out, when they didnt give a fuck about me when they sold me out for a 5th step in 2021 & they still dont give a fuck about me now while Im stuck at $97k. So give backs are fine with me.
Had a meeting with Vinny and like 20-30 other sgts. I can confirm he has no plan. I understand how we got here, he misplayed his hand. It happens. I cant say I would have done better. The first relevant date to keep an eye on is when the PBAs deal is up which is sometime next year. The best way to make sure this doesnt happen next go round is to negotiate in tandem with the PBA.
Which is what people told him to his face back in 2021, wait for the PBA. He misplayed his hand and actively ignored obvious advice to build upon the settled financial terms of the PBA agreement. The honorable thing to do is to RESIGN due to this incompetence.
The SBA overplayed its hand. They really put us in a bad situation. The last contract put us back and since they really have no connections to anyone were at the mercy of the city.
Time to start a movement to get Vinny to step down.. and that certainly doesnt mean to replace him with the VP. Get everyone off the current board
While walking around our beautiful, vibrant city this weekend, I came across a 9 year old Venezuelan serial killer barbecuing a hamster in front of the museum of natural history. Despite all the rhetoric, clearly this boy just needed love and a sense of community. So I clapped him on the shoulder and crouched down next to him, and decided to tell him one of Barbara Bushs favorite jokes. So kid, I said, a horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, why the long face? The horse says, I just found out I have AIDS. The brave migrant, full of hope and dreams, reciprocated and reached out in kind, bridging our cultural differences and extending an olive branch, by muttering something in Spanish, and kicking me in the nuts and chasing the mailwoman down the street with a machete. #newyorkstrong. #votethetwatandfaggotticketinnovember
Well David Banks the NYC Schools Chancellor resigned today after his home was raided during an FBI corruption scandal. Things are not looking very good for Mayor Adams right now. If you think that after his Police Commissioner resigned, his top lawyer has resigned, and his city health commissioner has resigned all within weeks of eachother other, that he is going to pick up the phone and sort out THE ONLY CONTRACT IN THE NYPD THAT IS NOT SIGNED you are delusional. Mayor Adams has a lot more on his plate than trying to cater to Vinny and his union goons to try and get a contract signed when they already agreed to the numbers. This contract is the farthest thing from Mayor Adams mind and if he ends up resigning we are in really big trouble.

This isnt great for business. Im glad these guys are really hitting the city hard with AMNY articles and petitions. Sleepy Vin and the useless VP have them right where they want them. Im under the impression that city hall is a little preoccupied at the moment.
Multiple trustees have told fellow sergeants that the SBAs hands are tied. The only thing the union could do now was to go public and hope that the city would rather settle than get more bad press. Unfortunately, bad press clearly wont force the city to fold a winning hand. The city may have some real dummies, but their dummies bested our dummies and now we are all going to pay the price.
The SBA blaming the current disparity on "25 years of attrition bargaining tactics" is a funny way of saying "hey we screwed up by putting the last contract (that included selling out the unborn for an extra year to top pay and a few months of zeros) out to vote." The other unions that all have already settled with the city with no givebacks seem to be doing just fine right now.
With the mayor about to get collared and a cop-hater in the wings about to take his spot, I doubt anyone is going to care about the plight of Sgts who get paid less than their subordinates.
My paycheck: (Sgt at $96k) $2,700 take home no OT 5% deferred comp coming out. 4-12 night diff
My wife paycheck:(PO day tours) $2,600 take home no OT, ITHP AND 50/50 coming out. NO NIGHT DIFF
HOW TF is this allowed. Im only making $100 more take home and thats with minimal deductions and night differential. If I didnt have night diff, I would be taking home around $2,400.
THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!! Completely unacceptable and embarrassing .
Dont worry guysVinnie has a plan to meet with Mayor Cuomo in 2026
I heard Vinny told his inner circe that he has the new mayor right where he wants him
I believe his quote at the 1pp auditorium meeting back in January was how he had the city by the balls and he threw out the hypothetical question "you really think the city is just going to keep promoting sgts right to top pay?" LOL
Promotions are in, so another fresh kick to the balls. Vin likes to point and blame the city for the compression issue, but was so proud to announce the pattern wage Coalition agreement, that still causes a compression issue.(Still below PO top pay). Lmao, and locks in raises that have already been diluted by about 30% with inflation, and will be close to 50% diluted by the time we get this contract. (another 12 -18 months). Be safe.
The City laughed when Little Shlong said that. The City was like yeah no well just promote ppl to top pay, leave 1400 Sgt pissed off & destroy the moral of the Union enough to get him kicked out. Little Dick Vinny lost this game. He needs to step down now & save us all time, money, and aggravation.
If someone were to get promoted from Detective 2nd grade to Sergeant, does that person take a pay cut? Technically, 2nd graders are making what top pay sergeants should be making right now, because the Detectives actually have a union that works for its members.

Congratulations to anyone here who was promoted to Lieutenant today, you made it out! Please dont forget where you came from.
Further congrats to the 75 Sergeants promoted directly to top pay, who have already received at least $50,000 more in compensation (not counting overtime etc) over the past 4 years than Sergeants promoted in 2020. May your good fortune continue throughout your careers.
May all those reap the benefits of their hard studying & good fortune of going to top pay & may they all not forget that it couldve easily been one of them that Little Shlong wouldve fucked over & when it comes to voting for a new president, may they realized that a change is for the best of this union, regardless if they went to top pay or not.
I'm so confused... The Key and Elite Strategic Training (Yanosik) both say that you should study for the test to get a raise. I haven't gotten a raise since I got promoted though, I actually lost money and am making less than cops. What gives?
Oh yeah, the SBA is absolute trash. Round of applause for this despicable union.
This forum has been very beneficial for me personally. The moderator along with several members have really helped me out and pointed me in the direction I needed for some support, through NDA. As most of you know, Needle Dicks Anonymous has been a wonderful resource for encouragement and understanding with a problem that it turns out is manageable, and doesnt have to impact your career. Reach out and pay it forward. #itsokaynottobeokay
It's safe to say that the city isnt going to give us anything better
and waiting is just costing us money. No matter when we were
promoted, each one of us has lost a FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS that could
have been in our pensions and deferred comp.
We need to call for
a vote on the contract and after we vote on it, both the Pres and VP
should step down. For the past year they have hid the fact
that things were going badly and mislead us which is beyond unethical.
With the mayor that is (read the INDICTMENT) going to jail and any replacement
is going to be worse we have to vote on it now and hoping Cuomo
would save us (if he even becomes the mayor and if he does we'll have to
wait another + year since this will not be his priority) the SBA IS just gambling at this point.
Idk what happens from here, but it doesn't look good.
A bunch of of the members on here will be the next rank before there's a vote on a sergeant contract. So in reality anybody in that boat is just blowing a lot of hot air and slamming a lot of keys on a keyboard because you won't even be able to vote for the contract anyway. Food for thought.

Insane that a majority of us need to get promoted to LT to make more than a cop!
Very sad state of affairs with this job, union, and ultimately the contract...
Unfortunately, I think the SBA is relying on this fact. They know how many sgt's will be LT in the coming years that are part of the 1400.. It's all a numbers game, and we're just the pawns.
