Take the percentages & get this shit over it. Im tired of being poor. Suffered thru 7 years of no PBA contract just to continue it under SBA. Im so over it.

The percentages are already agreed on, its the pay disparity they are "fighting" for

12 hour tours is the last remaining hurdle for this contract. Vinnie is willing to wait out the rest of the year and let the department keep promoting until the SBA is compensated for 12 hour tours. The rest of the contract is agreed upon already.

Ok so take 2% for 12hr Tours & lets keep the ball rolling. The City isnt going to work out the disparity. The % is the closest were going to get to fixing it.

At this rate, cant wait for Vinny to add 4 more steps to top pay. Lets make it 10 years to top pay which will force Sba members to HAVE to take a promotion, therefore their union will not have members die in the rank and the Sba having to cover prescriptions and benefits for the future. Theyll leave it to the LBA or the CEA

This union is fkn pathetic. This city is fkn pathetic. PBA had a game plan that worked, got what they deserved, even playing the slow game. SBA has no game plan. Signing last contract was a disaster.

I just saw that email and immediate thought, either Im part of the stupidest constituency in the history of all unions, or this contract is no where near being settled and they are tone deaf.

More union funded steaks and lunches for these goons.

The email was definitely an eye-opener to say the least. Perhaps when they decide to shove this looming contract up the proverbial Hershey highway and tout it as a success, they will add discounted sba logo branded toilet paper to the online store for those of us stuck at 97k and those extra steps. Hopefully it is at least 2-ply.

Hershey park huh? What a sweet deal. I think Ed Mullins took his stash of cash and hid it in the chocolate factory. Oh, why is the treasurer of the Sba STILL not being investigated? Or the rest of the board? I cant wait til top pay sergeant in 13 years. How much does the Sba pay to have their meetings at antuns? Who is getting a kickback from it? If the Sba wanted to show some solidarity, they would not take a delegate salary until their colleagues salary have been corrected. Food for thought

Here is your contract update from today. The union has a meeting with city on 5/3. There is no update on the contract at this time until that meeting takes place. SBA is supposed to come out with an update after that meeting. Again, the SBA will not accept 12 hour tours unless there is some compensation for it. If the city offers a contract on 5/3 with a stipulation of 12 hour tours and no compensation for it the SBA will walk out. The city is still trying to push 12 hour tours with no additional compensation. As long as the city doesnt budge, Vinnie will not budge. Remember that the city and SBA go on summer break for July and August. If this is not wrapped up by June, negotiations will return in September.

So basically all they seem to care about is 12 Hour Tours and not the Pay Disparity, real shame for every SGT not at pay but guess thats not a priority to them

Dear Fellow Sergeant,

We will be meeting with the City in the beginning of May to review their response to our latest contract proposal. As you know the basic wage increases have been agreed to almost a year ago. Many of you have asked why this is taking so long if the salary increases have already been agreed on. The main reason is we are committed to correcting the pay disparity that has occurred between top pay police officers and recently promoted sergeants. We believe that we have offered a realistic proposal to the City to fix a longstanding problem that the SBA did not create.

We are hopeful the City will give us something to bring back for consideration. We cannot allow past adversarial negotiations to be the status quo and I assure you that we are working for the overall betterment of this union going into the future. This Boards utmost allegiance is to the entire membership and under our leadership it will not deviate for active members or retirees.

We believe that the upcoming meeting will be fruitful and that we should be one step closer to alleviating these contractual burdens once and for all. We will keep you apprised of all developments as they occur. Thank you for your support during these challenging negotiations.

Fraternally your useless President,
Vincent Vallelong

The Sba has done absolutely nothing to make you think that they have this figured out. They are a bunch of decrepit guys that are out of touch with reality.
The PBA continues to knock it out of the park (deservedly so) but this administration is an absolute joke. I really feel for the poor folks in the 73 and 40. Ive had conversations with just about the entire board over the last few months and I can say they have no business representing 4,000 Sgts let alone being on the job anymore.

The PBA is fighting for tier 3 rights, and I havent heard a peep from the Sba about this. This is absolutely a battle they should be taking on. All of a sudden these cucks care about the unborn but they dont think that the retirement benefits battle is worth taking on is incredibly nearsighted.

If they dont figure it out in the next two weeks its going to be after the summer (you know the sba needs a pause since they are overwhelmed).

At least we have some slightly discounted Hershey Park tickets and the calendar to look forward 2.

Very unfortunate that the tier 3 rooks were not restored to 20-year retirement. PBA had us believing that the 20-year retirement would be restored. Hopefully they figure it out as tier 3 guys start approaching the last leg of their careers.

I dont even care about the 20 years. Whats the difference really between 20&22. The social security offset is a complete crock of shit. Why does my pension get lowered by my social security ? Thats absolutely ridiculous. The ITHP is another kick in the dick. Theres tier 3 captains on the job now. Its been around since July 2009. Were approaching 15 years of tier 3 people on this job. More than half the dept has to be tier 3. And somehow it still cant get figured out. At least the PBA is trying. The SBA has to be the saddest group of union members this job has seen ever. Absolutely no bark and even less bite. Vin and the gang should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Makes you wonder how much did they really know about what Mullins was doing for them to be so quiet and accepting of whats happening right now.

Tier 3 wont get 20 years bc the whole point of those provisions were to entice cops to stay 25 or 30 years. Make retirement at 20 years and alot of cops will leave

Hands down the Social Security Offset is the worst. Im shocked how many people dont even know about it when I mention it. Who cares about this contract or 20 years, this single handedly needs to be number one topic from all unions and members.

Dear PBA Member:

Im writing with a major update on our fight to obtain pension enhancements as part of the states budget process.

This week, the Legislature introduced its Fiscal Year 2025 budget legislation. Thanks to the PBAs intensive advocacy efforts including nearly 30,000 emails sent to legislators by PBA members I am proud to announce that the following PBA-backed pension enhancements are INCLUDED in the budget:
Tier 3 Three-Year Final Average Salary: the budget restores the three-year final average salary calculation for Tier 3 members hired since 2012 (Tier 3 Revised) and Tier 3 Enhanced members who retire for disability. Previously, the Tier 3 Revised final average salary was based on a five-year period. Under this budget legislation, all Tier 3 members will have their final average salary calculated using their best three-year period. The shorter calculation period will result in an increased pension payment for most Tier 3 members.
25/30 Year Pension Enhancements: the budget will grant both Tier 3 and Tier 2 members who serve at least 25 years in the police officer rank the right to have two years of Third Grade Detective salary included in their final average salary calculation. Members who serve at least 30 years in the police officer rank will have two years of top-pay Sergeant salary included in their final average salary. In addition to enhancing pension benefits for police officers who chose to work past their service retirement minimum, it provides an additional benefit for Tier 3 members who may already be planning to work to 25 years to receive the full escalation benefit.

Theres people who are tier 3, that arent rookies and are surprised when I tell them yes we still get overtime in our pension. It blows my mind how unaware some people can be about their future. This is the entire reason we took this job and deal with the nonsense for 22 years. And you dont even care to be educated on what youre owed.

I dont think it was shot down.it sounds like the 20 year restoration just didnt pass

Obviously 20 yr retirement would allow cops to leave earlier, but its designed to retain cops, instead of having a large percentage leave this job

Sounds like it hasnt been shot down. Just has to be reworded/resubmitted

Thanks for the good laugh, I needed that. Do you really think Vinny is capable of surprising anyone with this contract? The only suprising thing he has ever done is raise top pay from 4 years do 5 years. Now that was some surprising shit to see.

cant believe how many of them still think its 22 1/2 to retire. That 1/2 is completely made up. Its 22 or 25.

Vinny has the city right where he wants them. Theyre so concerned about fixing the compression issue that just for good measure another 65 Sergeants are going right to top pay! Keep fighting the good fight Vinny. We all know youll do right by us sergeants making less than cops and Bmoc Sergeants. Let me run guys, I have 12 more evals to do. Christmas 2030 cant come soon enough for a contract

Yep noice you are correct. Listen everyone wants to blow off steam, but leaving union w the benefits is just plain dumb. You want change then get involved in union and make the change happen. Some of you guys just like posting on an anonymous forum then cant even bother showing up to a union meeting.
