People have been complaining about Vinny and how shitty if a job the union has been doing. To be honest, Vinny didnt give a fuck until people on this board started putting up a fight and people started emailing and calling the union. Vinny finally realized he was in a bad spot and he had to do something. Do not waste this opportunity. This will drastically effect anyone that was not at top pay starting from August 2023. We have the ability to go to top pay retroactively from that date and the union is finally on our side and setting up a protest. Everyone has been botching up a storm the last 2-3 years. Its time to have your voices heard. If you can make it to the protest, then go! If you can take off then take the day or at least go then show up for your 4x12 shift! This is our opportunity to show the city and the union we deserve to be paid at a top pay rate like all of these brand new sergeants.
Youre right Sector7 & NYM, I dont knock you for your responses at all. I am one salty fkn dude thanks to this job. Ive lost all hope and faith. 7 years PBA no raise, 3 years SBA no raise, 10 years stuck on the same number. Like no light at the end of the tunnel. I expect nothing any longer regardless of what we do because this department is corrupt, this city is corrupt. Now theres congestion pricing taking more money out of our pockets. It never ends.
As much as the truth hurts, Vinny is not the problem. It is the Office of Labor Relations that is the real problem. They love to play games and will not bend. If PC Tisch calls up Commissioner Renee Campion and says finish this, as well as the mayors office, it will be settled, until then OLR is a scumbag entity for US but is the second coming of Christ for the City of New York. NYC Corporation Counsel which is assembled full of lawyers wont fight any lawsuits and will gladly settle BS lawsuits because it is "too expensive to fight", meanwhile every single person they hire is on salary ANYWAY is the reason why this city is backwards and continues to fall and fail each and every single day that passes.
All active and retired members are strongly encouraged to participate in the Rally to Support NYPD Sergeants in our unyielding effort to end the egregious pay disparity that negatively affects more than 1,200 of our members.
Please bring as many family members and friends to this important rally, which will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, outside the Apollo Theater, which is located at 253 West 125th Street, in Manhattan.
Mayor Adams will be giving his State of the City address at the time of the rally. Participants are asked to report at 9:30 a.m.
The SBA is determined to end this pay disparity once and for all, so it is crucial that all available members attend to show their solidarity with the affected Sergeants and let the City know that enough is enough.
We will not give up the fight in our quest to attain fair and equitable pay for our hardworking members.
Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you there.
The rally, these sit downs, and everything shouldve happened many moons ago. Glad they have announced an actual time so those of us who can attend can plan. Not sure how effective this rally can be and have grave questions about the location/timing but whatever. Want this nonsense- as No1is better said, just about a damn decade of waiting and hoping- to end, I will do whatever I can to bring that about. Ill be there.
I really thought Tisch was going to halt Sgt promotions to force a contract settlement. If 75 are going in, either contract will be settled or she has absolutely no affect on OLR/SBa to get this done.
They are going to bus people there from Citi Field. If you dont want to drive all the way there let the SBA pay the tolls and gas and hop on the bus! Free parking!
I personally hope the rally helps our cause. As critical as I am of the SBA board the system needs to work.
I have zero faith in sleepy Vin and empty suit Ed and anyone aligned with them but its an unfair fight. Unfortunately if this doesnt work 4,500 sergeants will continue to suffer.
For everyone at the rally, how do you think it went ? I was there freezing my underpaid balls off but I think it was a strong show of support amongst fellow sgts and there was a good amount of news media as well. Do I think it will change anything? No. Do I think it will be blasted into the media? Yes
It was nice to do SOMETHING other than complain amongst ourselves, and to see some elected officials offer support. Whether it changes anything, who knows, probably not, but better than sitting around waiting. And yeah it was cold AF
It was a good turn out but it was very cold sba hat made it a bit better lol since adam state during the talk that he would settle lets see how true this is maybe he sae us outside protesting and notice the amount of us there thx you all who came and show numbers i was very happy with the outcome
Nothing on the calendar as of now- shockingly the city hasnt reach out either. Here I thought the 200 person rally would have resulted in an immediate contract. Remember- dont blame the city, blame Vinny.
We had a decent turnout and we got some press over it. The SBA is getting support from other politicians the more politicians that write the Mayor letters the better chance we have at it becoming a higher priority for the Mayor
In my opinion the Mayor put his foot in his mouth by saying he will settle the SBA in his speech. It now opens the door for him to get questioned by the press on his remarks if it is still not settled next month. He would have been better off not mentioning it at all because now falling back on his assurance of trust me it will get settled during a re election campaign would be a mistake
I think we are in a better place today than before the rally, hopefully Vinny does not slow down and keeps getting politicians to send letters.
Two different sources with two different rumors. If 75 SGTs are going in, great for them, enjoy top pay. If 0 SGTs then the rumor I heard PC was going halt SGT promotions to force a contract might be true.
SBA met with the City, where the City laid out more demands for givebacks.
The City wants future sergeants to cover the cost of moving rookie sergeants to top pay. Additionally, the City is demanding that the SBA accept 12-hour tours. The SBA, however, is pushing for an additional 6% to 10% increase for these tours.
The SBA is also advocating for members who have served as sergeants for 10 and 15 years to retire with better pensions.
Despite this, the City is still refusing to move senior sergeants (who have not yet reached top pay) to the top pay salary.
The City is demanding further givebacks in the form of chart time and is attempting to hold all sergeant promotions until the SBA agrees to its offer.
The City has proposed a one-time payment of $2,000 for each sergeant if the contract is accepted.
The SBA is planning another rally in the coming weeks.
Hoo boy. SBA, if youre reading this and there was actually a meeting, best to let us know officially, because if this is legit we are gonna have some problems in the locker rooms.
Im Confused because the top says future Sgt will cover the cost to bring us to top pay, which fine, take the 2 chart days or whatever low level nonsense, but the bottom says the city is still refusing to move senior SGTs to top pay. So is it if we dont agree to givebacks they refuse to move everyone to top pay? Better retirement for 10-15 years in rank should be discussed later, we dont have time for this shit right now. Chart days can be made up by showing up to work an hour early 12 times. Whats the fkn problem? Sounds like every time Littleshlong demands more the city fucks us over more. Agree to something, its our fkn money n well being youre gambling with.
Can anyone confirm these rumors? I dont want to get worked up for no reason. Also holding another rally isnt going to do anything. If this is what the city proposed after the first one, I highly doubt anything better will happen after the second one.
I havent seen that thread going around. I havent heard of any meetings with the city until February with the mediator. 10% of what is posted there is probably true. The city always wanted future sergeants to pay for the givebacks by losing 2 chart days per year, for new sergeants. Thats nothing new.
12 hour tours is a non issue and hasnt been brought up this whole time. The P.C. Sent out surveys to commands doing 12 hour tours, over 75% said they hated it (dont remember the exact percentage). P.C. is actively reading the feedback from cops and I heard there is a possibility it could be tossed completely department wide.
I have been saying on here that I do not think they are not promoting sergeants until this contract is settled. P.C. is on the unions side on this issue, doesnt make sense for new sergeants to go straight to top pay.
Im sure they will hold another rally to put more pressure on the mayor, that wouldnt surprise me.
Everything else I think is total bullshit and us made up to get people pissed off.
Not sure if anyone on this chat had an opportunity to listen to the Unfiltered podcast from a few days ago. The blame rests souly with the board. The rally should have been held outside of 57 Leonard Street, not the Apollo theatre. Vinny if you reading this, stop gaslighting your constituents and make a reasonable offer with the city!
PBA is up for another contract July 31 2025. Unfortunately we will be two contracts behind by the time they settle their next contract.
Will finally work out in our favor. Lets get our contract done and WAIT for the PBA. Waiting will only help us in the end. Lets get this contract done and see what the PBA does next round.
