Any info

Anyone have any new info on this exam to share? A SGT in Bmoc told me his instructor told him 16 throwouts.....however I'm sure that's not 100% confirmed. Anyone else have any info on throwouts and a curve???

I heard it's 16 throwouts, a bell styled curve, and all BMOC classes are required to smoke reefer for a week to better understand what it means to be a true NYer. There will not be 16 throwouts, I'd say 2-3, and a curve is unlikely.

16 throwouts? Not a shot, I personally know of 3 that are definite throwouts (aided, BWC, and diplomat). based On what I saw at the protest and being in the telegram group chat since it was created, there will will be overall 4-6 throwouts in my opinion. And I dont think there is going to be a curve (personally opinion). This test was touch and tedious, but fair at the end of the day. If you include 4-5 throwouts, thats more than generous to giving people an honest score they deserve.

Explain how the diplomat is for sure a throwouts. I got it wrong and I fought it but honestly I was splitting hairs.

There was simply no correct answer for diplomat as per the patrol guide. Aided I got correct (homeless) so I wont get that throwout

2017 had more than 10 throw outs. This exam was by far worse. Expect 5-10 at the very least. I still dont know why people keep mentioning a curve. There hasn't been an actual curve since 03. 10% passed day 1, 12% passed day 2. Over 150 IAB complaints. Those are all facts. P.S. Yanosik DID take the exam.

There is a curve chart that has been circulated in regards to the 2017 exam.....there was also an email from rising star stating that Dcas curved the exam as well as a statement from them which is also on here. I took the exam and was told it got curved plus a few throwouts which is why some cops who were in the high 50s ended up getting promoted.  A curve WAS DONE WITH throwouts. While I'm not expecting a crazy amount of throwouts it will be a pretty significant amount . The percentages that passed are pretty low so there could be a chance of history repeating itself. Not to mention a lawsuit is currently being put together ....btw where did u get the info of the passing rates?

Day 1 vs Day 2? Thats the Only thing I could see being a lawsuit in regards to Day 2 people getting answers. Test wont be tossed though. 17 people from my command had passing scores

Yea the test won't be....I failed but I'm close so jus hoping 4 throwouts ND curve....I would rather that than it b thrown out. The lawsuit would be for the fact that day 2 ppl had the answers ND a better advantage

There is not going to be a curve idk why everyone is thinking there will be100 percent fact no curve.. you should ask people why they curved the 17 test.. it was the only test that was curved

I took the test.....it was curved because not enough ppl passed the test and they wanted a certain number of passers on the list...how are you SO sure there won't be a curve??

Youre confusing a curve with throw outs.

The sergeants Ive spoken to in my command that have been promoted from the 2017 exam all say it was curved. That being said, it doesnt matter. There is no guarantee that a lot of questions will be thrown out nor that a curve will happen. We just gotta see what happens.

Im sure a bunch of throw outs/curve is not the norm when it comes to these exams.

If thats the case, this will be a very small list

There can very well be. Lets see, its not impossible for a curve. But honestly speaking, it might not be likely. They promoted a lot of sgts in the last exam, and still have close to 200 to promote. They can leave this list short, throw out a few questions. make a test sooner, and not have people wait 4-5 years.

Or do neither and have ppl wait.

Curve will happen only if they decide not enough people passed and they don't have a list size they desired it to be.

There is always a need to promote sergeants, the 2017 list is just about done. They will have to make 2022 sgt list sooner then later.

I hope youre right. In the past have they ever established a list and waited a month or two to promote off of it. For example, lets say a list gets established January, but they dont hire until March. Reason I ask is because I find it hard to believe that they will let the 2017 list expire and dont have a class for another 2 months, then again you combat that by establishing a huge first class for 2022.

To be honest it seems like they dont care about filling vacancies. They SGT rank has over 400 vacancies and they have only been promoting small classes of 30-50 lately. The 2-5 month possible gap in between the 2017 list to the 2022 list doesnt really seem to be a worry for City Hall.

With this administration nothing seems to be as the usual. Just when you expect something to be done a certain way, the dept turns around and does it a totally different way. New Chief of Dept in the next coming months with a possible new PC following that. Everything seems to be up in the air with zero direction.

You all are right. A soon go be change in executive administration will have some packing their bags already. Nobody knows for certain which direction it can turn.

Huge amount of sgt vacancies and pos. It always balances each-other out. A good indication of promotions is how many recruits are being hired and number of retirements of rank and file. Retirements = more promotion vacancies which trickles down to bottom need for more cops. These days seems like majority want leave to work else where or do their 20andout.

I dont think they have urgency to necessarily promote sgts as of right now, maybe after December when they have January 03 class retirement and others hitting yearly anniversary. But they can comfortably hold on 2017 sgt list until then. Captains list is finished as of July.

is the rumor mill producing an anticipated date that we will get our list#? Im assuming the make up test will be after so the extra 2-300 cops that make it on the list that way will be added later?

i was content with being a cop for another 2- 2.5 years based on what i got.... but the kathy hochul donation thing was the last straw for me. i like so many others am officially done with the PBA.

I dont think the rumor mill or any consistent action will happen on this forum until after they establish a list. Even the fake news have been slow lol.

Ive been hearing some people say that they are hearing Jan/Feb for the list. But I HIGHLY doubt that will happen. Seems a bit too early lol

I believe 2017 took about a year if I remember correctly. Maybe because this one was computerized it will happen sooner. Wishful thinking.

and I am not saying that with hopes to make the Lt exam I am just saying it so we can know where we stand.

It didnt took a year, but the 2013 lit was still good and with names. In difference the 2017 list expires January. Time will tell.

This is not true. The 2013 list was exhausted in Summer of 2017. They promoted 240 sgts in 3 separate BMOC classes 2 weeks apart from July- August, in order for them to be eligible for the LT test, which was given in August 2017.

The 2017 Sgt test was administered on 2/22/17 and the list was released a few days after Christmas. The first BMOC from the 2017 test was January 8, 2018. Back then you still got promoted at the end, hence why the current list expires on January 24.

To answer the question, no one on the job knows when the list will come out. Thats all DCAS and their process. It could come out tomorrow for all we know. It could also come out in 6 months. The 2017 test had no lawsuits, and the protest was done in April. It took ten months to be released. Now this is on a computer, does that make it faster? Who knows.

Guy I know 3 people that were promoted off the first wave of the 2017 test. Hang the class were from 2013 and the other from 2017. they even hired the remainder of the 2013 list a day before to not deal with seniority issues

hearing that bmocc gave out dream sheets today. Sergeants were asked to pick boroughs ( ie. pbms hbbx tb manhattan)not specific commands. Has this been done before?

Anyone in the current bmocc can shed some light?

That means they were jammed up and cleared, or away on military, etc. The list was still technically active but other than passovers, the entire list was promoted in time for the LT test Summer of 2017.

What did you expect? He's Irish, and she's a lace curtain witch. I guess you learned nothing from Goodfellas. You can never trust the Irish. As my great grandfather use to say, the Irish flag is a dirty old rag.
