Extra freedom in the LT rank is gone. No more disappearing or passing the buck. You now work harder than the rank above AND below you. And "Stat" meetings every five minutes.

Maybe on patrol. Go to a detail and youll realize the difference. Plus on patrol if I dont want to stay, guess who is staying even as the desk officer. The saying chart days doesnt pay the mortgage rings true and as a lieutenant, can take captain rank w base pay 176k. Lieutenant simply has more options regards to money and freedom. But to each their own

 I agree with you 100%. Anyone not wanting the rank after being promoted can just give up the rank and let someone else take the slot, but you dont see that happening often.

No problem.  I wanna say it was 2010.  I cant 100% be sure about the class year but a friend of mine was in it and 100% it was Labor Day.  So this is off memory of year. Pretty sure that was the year though.
