Nothing confirmed. I called uniform promotions and the Sgt there said either July 8 or that following Monday. She didnt want to lock herself into a date but said it seems like one of those Mondays. The next BMOC is slotted for first week of August supposedly

So with a potential Mentoring Program start date of 7/8, I would assume the finest for the transfers would drop by Friday 7/5.

Can anyone confirm this ?

Anybody who has done this mentoring thing recently know exactly what goes on with it? I'm up for this round and haven't been following. Last I heard was guys were being used for foot posts and transports. Can advise a brief run down of how this whole thing goes down? I'm sure its different in every command.

Ideally you will be at the desk helping or Sgt Operator for the most part if the precinct is half way decent. Yes you might end up doing a transport or two but in the end, its only 3 weeks so don't sweat it.

Heard its different now. Like how you cant touch rookies for that stuff. When mentoring first started I remember my command using them for sectors

77 entered mentoring. Reached list number 703(adjusted list number) or 696(old list number).

Never underestimate the NYPD's ability to take an otherwise good idea and corrupt it into something it was never meant to be.

True story. My friend when he was in mentoring got used for a sector car. So he went out and collared 3 guys on a pick up robbery. Came into the command, LT told him ok I get the message we wont send you back out. He was admin the rest of mentoring.

Cant wait for the SGT who doesn't really want to be bothered doing the mentoring and we get the old "Normally I would have you drive me but were short today and I can't have this pretty little blonde 963 out there in harms way pushing a sector car"

How is getting 3 pick up robbery collars screwing them?

Mentoring your not supposed to make OT, collar or basically do anything. Just shadow other sgts. They 100% dont want you doing real police work. If on paper your not supposed to be a sector, how are they going to explain you having 3 rob collars and dropping a fat slip. Someone is going to have to admit they disregarded the interim order

sorry if this was answered elsewhere but is there anything concrete as far as taking vacation during mentoring and/or bmoc? not just for the hell of it, if you can show you have a vacation booked x amount of time before you got called and has been paid for, etc? or is it just case by case if theyll allow it?

Your vacation picks follow you into BMOC since you are still a PO. They will honor your picks provided your prior command faxes an official copy over to them. If you miss a mandatory training like taser, they send you with another group when you get back. Dont stress it.

thank you! i think *fingers crossed* i think ill be in the next class if this trend continues and just estimating the amount of people going in and the time frame, id probably be in week two or three of mentoring when this vacation is and i dont want to lose out

77 people went in? Who the heck comes up with those numbers? Why not 80 at that point. Does this all lie on NG? Insanity to say the least.

Lt NG does not have anything to do with the amount of people that goes in, that's all OMAP & Personnel.

I was being sarcastic. Still makes zero sense why not 80 as oppose to 77.

Yea that went over my head LOL...I agree though but we all know the NYPD loves to defy logic.

Maybe passovers that already completed mentoring were factored in?

Mentoring is not mandatory. If youre in a position that cant let you go at this moment you can pass over the mentoring and go right to bmoc when it starts

If they pass you over then youre not clear.

Someone posted that using the original list they are up to 696. Using the adjusted list they are up to 703. And bacon is right. The only way to know if your clear or not is if you get called. If you get passed over then theres something wrong

You are a detective until you get that shinny Sergeant shield so nothing changes until that day. I dont think you will get any chart time in BMOC if you are not getting any now.
