I could see it getting delayed for a bit. The job might want to give us a "fvck you" for exposing the scammers. Maybe a few months just so we learn our lesson and let corruption reign next time.

We should not be that upset at the cheaters but at the Dept, both DCAS and NYPD for allowing that unreasonable test see the light of day.

Anyone that had the opportunity to cheat should had done so, just to even the field somewhat. The test itself was the main problem and rightly so let to the cheating.

Prosecuted for what? And where's the proof. Simply knowing isn't enough

False hope is spreading like wildfire. They just need to fix the way they handle the exam dates.... End of story

Prosecution is a stretch but is still a possibility, highly unlikely though... 5% vs. 50% passing rate is mathematically indicative of cheating.  It's an easy class action lawsuit on the flaw testing practices.. Sit back enjoy the show.

Wishful thinking! This list is in serious jeopardy.

Like I've been saying, a lot of you handed the media a sexy anti cop story instead of banding together and exposing a flawed test that had 0 changes. There are many that were just a few points away to get on this list, but many of you wanted to open Pandora's box in regards to potential cheaters. You would've all been better off fighting for the changes on a flawed exam. Now we will all have  to wonder if this list will be thrown out.

It's a real sham that a lot of you turned this into a witch hunt that can potentially screw your own promotion.

If this list was 400 or 500 names with several changes, this would've never happened. Many of you act as though this is the right thing to do, but in reality it was out of Envy of those who passed and would've never been attempted if it was a larger list.

Absolutley if you could prove it. We all know that it was damn near impossible to score what the top scorers achieved straight up, but you know this cant be proven And will never happen.

What is more likely to happen is that this list is thrown out because we couldn't stick together and fight a flawed exam that had 0 changes.

Many were just too hung up on people getting over on the job and had to give the media an anti cop head line. Now guys who rightfully passed have to suffer because the majority of you thought it was cute to run to the media with a sexy anti cop story and start a witch hunt.

I just hope Bratton doesn't toss this like he did With the 1996 Exam for the sake of guys who rightfully passed.

sixmonthwonder, this isn't against you unless you went to the media. Im truly disgusted how were going after each other using the media. There is a reason why you have to go through DCPI before you talk to the media. THEY ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS!!!

I am on your side. Next test coming out soon anyway, what does it matter If this gets thrown out for failures?

I'm showing my disgust after seeing how people on this forum have been spewing anti cop rhetoric to the media. Everyone hates us as it is, now we go after our own. Problem with this forum is that a lot of you guys are skirts and have no clue what it means to be a cop.

Cathetel, again talking nonsense, don't you get tired of it? Are you a real Sergeant?

The list is NOT in any jeopardy. Maybe the people from the make up may get passed over a couple of times until the "investigation" is concluded, but they will all still get promoted anyway.

Most people here are making a big deal about the article on the post, but it's just that, a couple of lines in a newspaper that one can read in less than 3 minutes. A post in the job's tweeter account may have more teeth than that almost meaningless article in the Post. Don't get me wrong, it's a good start, but it's just that, a start to start the movement to change the way the test are given and manufactured.

The test given had so many flaws and bad intention in it that should had never seen the light of day, thus I do not blame the cheaters for trying to survive it somehow. This whole thing is becoming about the cheaters when those of us that took the test know that it's really about the test itself, but if the cheaters get hanged for change to happen so be it.

We are the elite 128 and we want change...go study for the next one MOVE ON....

Well said. I can't argue this. I'm going to leave at this, congrats to all who passed, it really took a lot to pass this one.

Wisecop, I believe you said you are one of the "True" Elite, that is, one of the few Sergeants on PATROL that actually made it, so address yourself as that and make that distinction. I thought we had settled that only a few of the "128 elite" are "true elite", because the majority of the first group that made it are IAB, acronym units and house mouses that had all the time in the world to study while on duty (Totally unfair to the working patrol Sgt out there, he/she had almost no chance at making that test).

Cathetel, I guess we just misread the things you were trying to tell us.

Trust me they only need one to fold under the spot light and it will be a domino play and IAB can pull phone records with text messages and I doubt they will lie on a GO and the risk of getting fired when your a sgt already making $150 some will fold under questioning, trust me.

The only thing this attention will bring is maybe a new way of testing and/or monitoring, at best.  Nothing more.   The test has absolutely no chance of being thrown out or changed in any way.   Nothing will even happen to those that took it months later.

There is no cheating.   If test taker A takes test on April 18 and test taker B takes the test months later, and taker A feels compelled to tell taker B everything on the exam, that is NOT cheating.   Cheating only can occur at the time the test is administered during the actual test taking.

Also, there is arguement for different questions to be given for those who take the exam months later.   There's a whole new dilemma for that.  Some will cry that one exam's set of questions was harder than the other, and vice versa.   Then the lawsuits start and yadda, yadda, yadda.   That solution would never fly.

The only immediate, logical solution is to have the exam away from any holiday or observance days - and in one of the middle days of the week.   Also, to be given at the Police Academy, the old and new one and/or Police headquarters.  they are all big enough to accommodate.

Problems all solved.   Period.

A criminal act has to occur for Subpoenas to be issued for phone records.  There are no such acts with regard to the exam.

OK, guess I misunderstood what you meant when you said "the list is in serious jeopardy."  It seems everyone agrees it's unlikely to be thrown out, although certain individuals may find themselves needing union representation.

I honestly feel for you guys and hope that gets addressed too. There should have been several changes on this test and to be honest it shouldn't have been such a bloodbath in the first place. Make a difficult but fair test, and if there are flaws they should be double answers or throwouts.

The problem is multipronged. I agree that the test was BS and so was DCAS ignoring our protests. Half the list being composed of cheaters is also a problem though. I didn't go to the Post, but I commend and thank the person who did. Like you said, this always happens, but if it was a list of 600 with 10 - 15% being cheaters it wouldn't sting so bad. I think everyone who scored a 65 or over on this exam on April 18th should get made, but that's my opinion and last I checked the job wasn't very interested in it.

I don't think anything will happen with the lawsuit, but I also didn't think I would wake up this morning to see the cheaters exposed in the Post, so hopefully I'm wrong and you'll get points. There are absolutely throwouts, it is an injustice and I'm sorry. Good luck to everyone who deserved to pass, I hope you guys get somewhere with this.

Getting cellphone records will NOT WORK...just look at what's happening to FBI vs. APPLE! And as for the "GO-15s" that people are talking about, guess what...people lied in "GO-15s" all the time...an investigator can not PROVE or DISAPPROVE an allegation without sufficient evidence (such as Video/Audio recordings, paper trails, "unlocked" text messages, and other damning facts)...so therefore the only outcome of the Department's internal investigation into this "exam cheating/scamming" allegation will be labeled as "UNSUBSTANTIATED">>>"Insufficient evidence to clearly prove or disprove the allegations made"!
Hopefully, the next exam was be more fair and straight forward.
There will always be cheaters and scammers in every walk of life. Most will get away with it, and only a few gets caught, and even fewer will ever be punished fully for their acts...this is a LIFE FACT!

WTF: that all depends on the facts disclosed during the investigation. there have been instances where the rat squad has been called to get the "okay" as a step in getting promoted. With that being said, if there is a serious enough case with supporting facts, there may be a chance said person may get skipped over, especially since the allegation in based on cheating/ scamming a promotional exam.

I suggest drop all the logs to IAB or DOI and let the chips fall where they land. Noise has to be made in result of this exam. Noise/cry/ccomplain/rant/vent, which every word you want to describe it as, if not everything will get swept under a rug and we will find ourselves in the same predicament next time around. Besides that will give IAB something to entertain next to all the other nonesens they entertain.

IAB can not be leading this investigation because there are many passers from this exam that works in different Groups/Units within IAB. The Department does not want to be in the limelight when it comes to negative reviews. The Higher Ups knows about this type of cheating/scamming for years because some of its members are cheaters/scammers themselves. So the dilemma is this: punish the cheaters/scammers by the Higher Ups and risk exposing them selves to scrutiny...or just let these allegations die down as time goes by and people loses interest in the matter. Personally I think the JOB will choose the latter instead of the former because it is the easier way out of this fiasco. Another way for the JOB to let these allegations die down is to set up another Lieutenant's exam quickly so that people will be too busy studying for the next "fair" exam...either way, the cheaters/scammers will win because they found the loophole to the system. Sad sad day for the people that wants a fair fight in this matter..."sigh"...SMH

Absolutely nothing with come out of this...every test its the same nonsense...the only reason its a huge deal now is because there was no changes. If there were like 19 changes like 2011 no one would care be as list would of been 600-700. The list will run its course and hopefully a new test is soon. It is a shame that decent people and deserving got screwed.
