Listen. To whom it may concern. It piss me off to hear a bunch of losers talk trash about thoSe select few men and women who fight for this country so you and your family can sleep at night. It is only right that military folks get the same opportunities you all had to take the exam. Stop been selfish....and stop being so hipocrite. Those that trash military folks are probably a bunch of coward that will never know what it feels like to leave their family for a year not knowing if theyre in fact coming back.
getting drill orders for the weekend of a police promo exam is not leaving your family for a year. the two in my command are not deploying anywhere except to fort totten and staten island. but if ur a marine thank u for ur service. to the military scammers im sorry ur a disgrace to the rest who serve HONORABLY
To abuse your service by switching drill orders merely to be able to take a make up promotional exam is not dignity, not integrity, not commendable. In fact, it goes against the very tenets of military service and quite frankly, it is shameful. That being said, those on legitimate orders and actually caught up in the mix somewhere in some godforsaken land would get a nice salute from me as they go in and take their make up exam. Don't confound mere membership in the armed forces as being synonymous with honor. There are plenty of career military folks on this job who feel the exact same way.
Funny you mention this. One motherfcuker from my old command just got made to LT. I didn't even know he was on the list! Def took that test a year later.

have some respect for combat veterans
How bout writing in english next time!?! Respect for veterans is always a given, but they should not be given any unfair advantages. Veterans already get additional points if they pass ( myself included). I'm embarrassed that a fellow Marine would come on here and cry about complaints of cheating and try to explain it away as a lack of respect for veterans. Hopefully ur just a wannabe Marine. So, shut your ****ing mouth Junior.
being a fellow veteran, I can appreciate when someone is deployed for 6 months overseas in a combat zone, due to no fault of their own. But when people hear stories of surprise drills conveniently scheduled for the weekend of the test, then that's what we called in the Army, shamming. It makes us all look bad and its not fair to those who are doing it the right way. A fellow soldier called me up looking for clues on the test, and I didn't give him ****....
Respect is due, but unless the nypd wants to consider giving field promotions to military guys just for being in the military (which im not opposed to), then the military people have to do it the same way everyone else has to....
Exactly .... if a guy or gal gets deployed overseas to fight for this county is a totally different situation them a cop who purposely and conveniently gets drill duty just to miss the exam. Therefore, giving them extra weeks to cheat and get all the details of the exam. It's low , it's dirty, it's corrupt.
Former Marine here who served in Iraq with 1st Marine Division in 2003 (tip of the spear). If someone is actually oversees serving that's one thing. But a majority of these guys have their drill schedule changed or volunteer for a few months of active duty in NJ or Fl. That's abusing the system in the name of honorable service and that's a shame.
I totally respect veterans who go overseas and fight for the country. But its not fair for them to take the same exam. It shouls be a different exam. Period.
But u have military people who schedule drill purposely or take "jobs" of miliary so they can study, meanwhile calling themselves deployed! I can assure a lot of the folks got a good gig in their deployment.
Its sad to see u getting push down a list# bc some military folk takes the test a yr or even two later

I probably agree with most of you to an extend. Yes it is unfair and a disgrace to you me and the Department, when any military vet INTENTIONALLY miss the exam to have an advantage. I see that as lack of integrity and pride. What I got pissed off was that some folks were trashing all military folks in general. I personally deployed numerous times to Iraq/ Afghanistan as a combat infantry man while active duty and in the NYPD. And if I missed a promotional exam while away, is only fair that I get the same opportunities others had. And to answer your question DAtnoids. We get place on a special military list, so military don't bump anyone. And why we take the same test?? I was told is because they have to give everyone, the same level of difficulty to on these exams. Now I agree that it should be 2 versions to avoid conflict, but we don't make that choice on that. I heard there was a lawsuit and the change the rules. Hey DETSGT. Semperfi
two five.......and don't forget to ask her how great it must have felt to pass the 2011 all the way in 2013. Hey DCAS, you mind if I take take the 99 test with the curve in it next Thursday? Does that work for you?
