You have to see what some of these people are saying on the 2013 forum. One guy is acting like he's ok with this list getting cut so he could get promoted quicker. DISGUSTING. like guys and girls on this list haven't been agonizing for years to get promoted. That is the one way bull***t that drives me up a wall. We have been waiting for years and those guys just found out they passed a few months ago. People need to stick together and route for each other instead of hoping a list gets cut. This is the exact reason why we get dumps taken on us all the time by this job and the public. We do it to ourselves.

chinstrap....first...the culture/way the job is will never change. If you gave the 2013 guys a chance to be promoted and cut your list the majority would so oh well sorry. You cant change the culture of the job, but you can change you. Everyone else, well thats up to them. First, ill be the first to admit i thought the list was going to be cut. Im not 100 percent the whole list will be made but i dont see any reason why they wouldnt at this point. The list is either going to get cut, or its not! I either passed the lieutenants test or I didnt! Two things that me and you good sir have no control over at this point. The one thing we do have control over, how we let it effect us. I think its safe to say wed both be devestated by a negative outcome but my friend it is out of our control and id rather worry about something in my control then obsess over something i have no control over.

I Agree with you. Just a I am big on karma and comradery. we need to encourage each other. Only way to survive, especially with how things are going with the 'culture' of this job. We are all going to be bosses and have to find a way to motivate people in probably one of the toughest times this job has seen in 20+ years.

honestly guys/gals you're better off with a june class. Only reason to get promoted prior to now was to take lt test. At this point you are making MORE as a cop TRUST me. BUT, once july 2nd hits the entry level sgt will be making 83k BASE about 7k more than a top pay cop. Plus bmoc in the summer is a entire 5 weeks off!

I know I never posted here before so I know you will take this with a grain of salt which I would too but any info always helps. So my boss had some type of meeting in 1pp two days ago and while he was there he was talking to a boss in personnel. He was bsing with him and mentioned that one of his cops is about to get promoted. The boss in personnel said they got a letter saying to prepare for a May class. He also said that they are preparing for a class in the middle of May. I know middle of May is weird and I question the same thing but thats what he said and thats what was told to me. Like I said I don't expect anyone to believe me bc I never posted before but I thought that was interesting. I know alot of guy/girls here have been waiting a long time so any news always helps. Like anything on this job nothing is ever 100% until you actually get that finest msg. The fact that we haven't heard anything this close to the end of the month doesn't look good. Good luck everyone.

Negative. There are certain people on the list that are not active for various reasons. (already promoted, resigned, etc. ) The list actually skips 1 or 2 numbers between people sometimes.

This job is what you can make of it. I think we can all agree, however, that the Sgt rank is better than being a PO or Det.

A promotion to Sergeant means not having to deal with nearly as many *******s that you used to between the cop rank and detective rank. Same goes for other Sergeants. You just went from dealing with everyone on your tour to dealing just with the LT and your XO, CO. And being able to tell that ******* detective who thinks he has the assimilated rank of a captain because he has grade to piss off. I saw a first grade detective try to order a patrol SGT to "make these people scatter" on a crime scene. Sergeant laughed and said "I'm the fcking SGT, you make them scatter." I'll have what that patrol SGT is having please.
