Research Questions - Do you have to attend protest to know them?

Sorry if this issue was already covered but the last test I took was 10 years ago.  You got the raw answer sheet online in 5 Mondays and there were no research questions.

I know I have to attend the protest to see the final answer key.  I was just wondering about the research questions.  How does the notification process work?  Do you have to go to the protest session to know which numbers were research questions?  Do they mail you something?  I want to go to the protest one way or another but I am travelling right in that five day window and I can't change it.  I might miss.  I don't feel like waiting until the list was promulgated to be certain one way or another whether I passed or failed.

Also, is this protest on a weekday?  Is it like the old 5- Monday rule.

Thanks for the help.

They'll hand you a proposed answer key, the research questions will be skipped so you'll know those are the research ones. It will be during the week but they may do different days depending on the number of people who sign up for the protest.

They don't know the research questions. The "research" questions will be the ones that a huge amount of people got right after scanning in the sheets. **** DCAS!

It's no secret that Operation Orders were tested. I am not here to cite the actual ones that were tested but to provide some ammunition for a protest. Take a look at the following from the AG; so bring a copy of this procedure to the protest session. Just trying to help. That pony tailed Captain may not have researched this when making his question.

AG 322-29

PROCEDURES MAY NOT BE PUBLISHED IN AN OPERATIONS ORDER EXCEPT WHEN NECESSARY IN ANNOUNCING A PILOT PROGRAM.

Operations Orders expire upon conclusion of the event or situation which is the subject of the Order, or one year after publication, unless otherwise directed. Operations Orders are published by the Office of Management Analysis and Planning after approval of the Police Commissioner.

Yea so if it's expired and otherwise not renewed should be a throw out.

Read our notice of exam pay attention the "the test" section. Then read the 2013 notice of exam for the sgt's test.   It's real interesting if u pick up on what was left out of ours.

Old operations orders were not thrown out on previous exams

When you walk into the classroom at the protest, the proposed answer key will be taped to the walls and chalkboards on large pieces of paper. The research questions will have a dash instead of an answer on that sheet.

1. B
2. A
3. -
4. A.

On the 2013 Sergeant exam, there were 30 research questions, NOT ONE of them after question #100.

I know I may seem a bit slow but I totally don't get the research question concept and how it helps or hurts your potential score. I was told "It won't effect your score whether you got them right or wrong because they don't count against it". Can anyone please clarify this?

It means the more you got wrong that were Research questions the better youll be. If 20 research questions are ones you got right... No good

The whole protest session is terrible, first off your checking your answers to see if you passed amongst a class full of your colleagues and from firsthand experience it sucks to tell someone that failed that you passed and to see the look on people's faces.  Secondly you won't see any research questions they are left out completely, so unless you have a super memory you won't remember and after you get your score you may not even care anymore.  I feel really bad for the guys in my command, that's time you can never get back, but fight as many questions as possible.  Also remember there are those taking the test past the 5 week protest that pass along questions to cheaters.  I'm sure someone will score 98 on this exam.  My 2011 Lt test had a few smh
