Sept 2014

I hate to break it to you guys, but no questions were thrown out yet. I'm not saying they won't be, it just hasn't happened yet. Regardless of how flawed you think a question might be, it still needs to got through the process of being voted on by 2 captains and one DCAS rep (this is the test validation board). DCAS can not, by law, usurp the review process.

This rumor, plus the fact that you thought the transition team was in a trailer (as was erroneously reported in the news), makes me question the reliability of your source.

Im sorry Mr. Bookman i do not know the exact changes of throw outs or double or triple answers and the questiion numbers. I need points myself.

Bronx Party Hat, it seems we are on the same page regarding these rumors, It seems you approach information in a similar fashion as me....with caution. I think you are right on with the police officer specialist aka corporal. They may have to change the name to get it to pass with the P.B.A. That is kinda the direction the person i was speaking to was leaning towards.

I will weigh in. I think you are full of shyt. There is no rank of corporal in the LAPD. You know that the clowns on this board believe every bullshyt rumor that fits what they already believe. You are a sadistic woman.

Good point Whale-I didn't think that a question could be tossed either until after the protest session, but it must be pionted out that on the infamous 2011 Lieutenant exam there were changes to the proposed key even before the protest session. I think it was question 3 to be exact.

And i aploigize to wannabe-while my screen name would indicate that the information setforth is factual- im more providing information for all of us to verify. I belive it was you would first posted that more than 25 passed. And it seems that you were right. We all reached out to our sources to verify.

Dont forget many of us on here are not as magnificent as the magnificent 25 so we do have some flaws. But sadistic?? Maybe a little harsh. Im just posting a possible information. And half of the so called ''rumors'' so far have been true!!!

An Inconvient Truth for JustTheFacts and J-Man

Lets say the next exam is September 2014 or October or November, and i think we all agree that the next test will be soon.

Who will be the magnificent 25 on that exam? I know J-Man doesn't like me calling them superior but that is what they are.

Correct me if im wrong but of the 25 passers most them were in the June 29th class or would have been if not passed over for lack of time. I would assume that of the magnificent 25 approx 15 of them were in the class with stiggity1.
Just think the igotubabe guy with 87 will most likely be number 1 on this exam. I dont know him but i assume he was probably number 1 on his sgt exam and top 10 on the 2011 Lt exam. Take stiggity, he was probably in the 1st class for 06 sgt exam and 1st class for 2011 Lt exam. Take qunsisback, say what you will about him but with an 81 he is the top 5 in this exam and if you do research will most likely see he was top of his other 2 exams. See my point, these magnificent 25 guys werent just magnificent on 11/23/13 but have been superior since inception. Even a guy with a 70 on this exam was probably in the top 25 of their sgt and Lt exam. Im sure stiggity was magnificent even in little league baseball. Take a moment to think of everyone you know who passed, were most of them at the top of the other lists? I bet you they were.

But what will happen on the next exam when the medium guys/gals like us take it. Will we have the magnificent 8? Its time to face the facts Im a middle age woman with two kids, im average not magnificent, Magnificent is my husband who watched the kids over the whole summer and fall so i could study. And now he is going to have to do it all over again. Going to summer family b.b.q's and having people ask him where xxxxx, oh she is studying for the captain exam, oh they say i thought she took that already.

Now the mag 25 are eligible for promotion on 6-29-14 i believe which would mean they would not have time to write our exam if it is in september, but if this gets pushed back to december we are in big trouble. They are going to take pride in writing a monster exam where only single digits passed.

I think the job is going to have to wait for the 2011 sgt exam guys to be eligible for the 2015 Lt exam then take the 2017 Capt exam before they get some top canidates.

Thre may be a Captain's exam every year just like the 06, 07, 08, 09 sgt exam, They only want the best of the best.

So stay strong J-Man, you are in good company.

JustTheFacts, I read your post and want to add my "2 cents". I am a middle-aged patrol Lt, who is fortunate enough to know at this point that I passed the #4500. I do not see myself as "magnificent", I am an average person, who could not study at work due to personnel shortages at my command and due to my over- developed sense of responsibility, which told me that whether or not I was scheduled to take a capt's test, I still had cops and sgts who needed me, whom I was responsible for. I am blessed to have a wife who was patient and understanding,  and she probably deserves more acknowledgement for passing #4500 than I do. So I understand what you mean, when you talk about the support of your husband.  #4500 was badly written, had numerous "disputable" questions etc. I hope that throw-outs will help my friends and colleagues, who are just average people like me, who sacrificed time with their families, who gave up many hours of sleep- and still did not make it.... I was in the 1st Lt's BMOC of the 2011 test. I was one of the few people there who came from precincts/ psa's/ td's.  If, by some miracle, I will have a role in the creation of the next capt's test, I will try my best to make sure that it is a fair test, a kind of test that an average patrol Lt, who studied hard, can pass.

Finally a passer who is the opposite of the dancing ass clowns on this board. Hopefully the protest will mirror the 2010-2011 exams and they will have a nice long list of captains.

Back to business my friends, Many have been asking now that the amount of passers have risen from 25 to 35 to 40 to 56 will that affect the date of the test from September 20th 2014 to a later date since more passed?

Here is what i got (once again just what i got). The september 2014 exam will stand if the list reaches below 74 names. For every 15 names added it would be pushed back approximatley 3 months.

<74 passers=next test Sept/2014
74 passers=next test Sept/2014
89 passsers= December/2014
104 passers= March/2015
119 passers=June/2015

Rumor clarification, Do you remember mid to late december when the list was at ''25'' rumor was in full swing (a rumor i poured fire on) and many people who may have missed the 70 by a few points were getting calls from well wishers and others on the forum who claimed that the job would never put out a list of just 25. They claimed the T.V.B would be ''ordered'' by the job to throw out questions so the list would be longer. They claimed there would be throw-outs so that the list would grow. I just wonder what they say now since the list is at 56 which the similar to the 2012 list of 64 names.

As those who were in the know all along stated the T.V.B could care less how many names are on the list they take each individual protest and weigh the merits of it. if the question is flawed then it will be thrown out. It is not based on how many names they think the job wants.

I dont want to be a troll on forums but i have some good news for the 2012 captains list, looks like a big class of approx 22 names on january 31. Of course nothing is confirmed until brat says so. We await her word. That would leave approx one more medium size captain class left from the 2012 exam. Remember there are many passovers that have declined the promotion until the last class of the list.

I also have some good news for those on the 2011 Lieutenant's exam and 2011 Sergeant's exam. It seems the new P.C is beefing up and expanding operation impact by adding additional supervisors (Sergeants and Lieutenants) to the program to ensure the highest level of supervision. If you are a precinct ops Lt im sure you spent this past week moving sergeants around from patrol to impact. Now patrol is depleted which means more B.L.C's from the academy.

Where is this 56 person list?

Once again this the preliminary 56 person list is just based on those who currently have above a 70. Many have mistook the lists floating around as an official department lists. Many of the ''magnificent 56'' have recieved calls from co-workers congratulating them for being a certain list number. While the list number next to the name is close it is not final, the senority points, fitness points and medals have to be added in.

Stigg i have been running the numbers for you and have created a promotional time line for since you are the founding father of this site.

Here is what i got.

January 31, 2014=There will 22 names from the 2012 captains list promoted. That leaves a small remainder

June 6th 2014 (projected)= The remaining names on 2012 test will get promoted. This will be the last class from thst list.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

September 26th 2014 (projected)=This will be the first class from our list. Now the tricky part is calculating time in rank, fitness points and medals. A few of the top dogs such as i got you babe will be passed over for time. Gunzisback and the Squad C.O will lead a class of approx 15 names accross the stage. I have you as the 19th elligible name for the september class so if the put in a larger class of say 20 you are in, if its remains at 15 you may have to wait till the new year.

I must remind all that the june and september dates are projected based on current departmental figures.

Once again please dont kill the messenger.

22 captains promoted on the 31st?? That's an unusually large number for captain promos, no?

Yes, its a little on the high side. We usually see around 12-17, i guess we are going a little heavy since they have not done a class since august. August 31st i think. Currently the vacancy is 19 for the rank. When reviewing the 2012 list don't forget many top scorers temporarily passed on the promotion simply becuase they did not want the rank. A little inside info for you-2 of the next 22 that are getting promoted on the 31st are heading to the pension after to retire as a ''Captain of police''. That will free up 2 more spots right away.

Stigg, is it to late for you to do 1 more fitness run to get the extar points? We need you in that first class. We want you in that first class. You deserve it.

Just to clarify one thing, many people have inboxed me for their list number. Just remember this is before ''throw-outs/double answers''. Lets say you are number 36 of 56 now. That could become 31 of 89 if you pick up points and others dont, or on the flip side it could become 41 of 89 if the guys behind you pick up more than you.

Im sure you know of someone on the 2011 Lt test that had like a 73, was behind you and picked up 10 throw outs to your 5 and jumped you on the list.

One main thing is that i currently have no information on throw-outs yet. Repeat no changes have been made to the proposed answer key.

I will of course keep you posted.

Tell me Justthefacts, where are you getting a list of 56 passers from?

As usual i dont ask people to take what i say as gospel, im simply reporting the current facts and projections as they stand now. Projections are not facts and can be subject to change. If you read my posts i constantly remind you that this is not the be all end all word.

Weird? Creepy? i can live with that, but tell me what about this forum is not weird and creepy. We are all a bunch of middle aged Lieutenants living through a fictious screen name. It kind of like a on-line dating site. Half us are in front of the computer now posting in our underwear. Yeah creepy, we are all creepy just for being here. Scroll through this forum and you will see many a weird things. Have fun with it.

Regarding the list, I know many are going by the list created by the passers which was sent out as a mass text. That was a good start and is about 60% accurate. You must remember many people like to keep it quite (secret studiers) and have you suprised when the list comes out and their name is on there. Just take a moment now im sure we all know a guy who said he didnt study and wow got a 76 on the hardest exam in a decade.

Rising Idiot, let me ask you-Do you think they didn't grade the scantrons yet. When you walk into work tomorrow look into the 124 room. Do you see the P.A.A's? Yeah thats who works at D.C.A.S. What do you think these scantrons from november are untouchable?

You didn't answer the question. You're saying 56 with conviction. My question is why are you confident about that number?

A larger list is discouraging to both passers and non-passers alike. At the very least you should provide clarification.

There has to be more passers because Im in the low 80's and my name isn't listed. Plus certain units like Internal Affairs aren't represented. So the "list" has to be larger than 35.

Good point Sgt, If you ask a person from the june 29th class how many i.a.b guys were in their class they will say 4 or 5. If you ask a person from the august 3rd class the same question they will say 4 or 5 and so on and so forth. Notice on the unoffical list there is no one from i.a.b. Do you think they did not take the test or maybe we did not ask someone from i.a.b yet. Maybe when we did the unoffical text message list we just sent it out to our friends, and maybe we didnt have a friend in i.a.b. I can assure you the 56 man list does represent i.a.b lieutenants....and alot of secret studiers who wont admit they passed yet from commands that you already asked.

No specific citing, Justthefacts re IAB, just like you said, a sampling of the average b.m.o.c. class (towards the top of the list) and you'd have to have at least a handful from that unit, or from other specialty units represented. Law of averages. Actually have to credit a friend of mine for spotting that before I did. And thanks Stiggity for adding me. 56 does seem very plausible.

Every Lieutenant in iab from the 2011 Lieutenants test is there voluntarily. Every other Lieutenant in iab had an opportunity to take the 2012 Lieutenants test. If iab is your thing, it would be hard to get motivated to take a test. You would have to give up your take home car and steady days off in order to actually go somewhere that you are going to have to work. It's possible that there are hidden Lts from iab that passed but it's not unlikely that none of the 2011 Lieutenants test guys are nd gals bothered to study.

Just an update, i reported there would be a lieutenant's and captain's promotion on january 31st. Looks like it will be just 24 lieutenants and no captain's despite the vacancy. I will be the first one to point out that information i reported earlier has changed.

Sorry
