Here's what I see happening. After conferring with my colleague at work, we both agreed that this likely scenario will play or can be played out.

Who is to say and how is DCAS going to argue this..

We got an experiment question right, why is it NOT being counted? Why is the experiement question not counted which is correct and my regular exam question is penalizing me because it is wrong.

You guys with me on this???

They don't care how much money or time we spent on this exam. It's a $$$ business in their eyes.

I just want them to argue how can a experiment CORRECT ANSWER not count...? Other than "well, they were predetermined".

There has to be something veryodd with this exam. I am willing to bet a curve is going to happen, or was planned.l

That means anything is possible bro. I wouldn't lose sleep over this. It's a cluster fk and there is no real answer or way to figure it out.

How is it possible that someone I know has 45 different answers than me with best case 100, worst case 69 and most likely a 76, and I have best case 99, worst case 65 and most likely 74? That to me makes no sense. How do you interpret that? Did one of us bomb this?

Thank you very much to the guy who put this sheet together. I don't know if it's helping me or just making me more nuts! Lol no but seriously great job..

the past exams had NO passing score. also, the fact that they did not SAY experimentals would be incorporated into the ENTIRE exam/ramdomly, and that we SHOULD answer all questions is the strangness of it all.

I AGREE with you 130% (pun intended)... This will be a curved test. Ask yourself this.... Why did they not allow the instructors take the test? Why did they throw in an extra 33% without allotting extra time? Why is DCAS NOT going to post the answer key on their website?  Why were these "experimental" questions about PG procedures and not surveys? Why we're these questions thrown in  randomly on these test? There are a lot questions not answered by DCAS that leads one to believe that this will be a curved test.

Either a CURVE or straight up 1-100, last 30 were experiments.

I'm failing to see how that equals a curved test.

I posted on another thread. The practice of sample or experimental questions is used on most standardized exams (SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, NY BAR). A "curve" is based off a bell curve where a certain percentage of test takers are meant to pass. DCAS does not care how many people pass. You have a Sgt. list with less then 300 on it, a few tests later a list with less then 800, then a 1600 list. Then a Lt. list that only gets to the test takers that got an 81% or above. Then a list where less than 700 people are on it and people are getting promoted with a 70%. All DCAS is concerned with is fairness. And by fairness I mean you are not comparing yourself against other lists or other tests, was this test equally difficult given - difficulty of questions, and time allotted to answer those questions - to everyone taking THIS test. That answer is yes. If some people took the test with the sample questions and got no more time, (while others took a standard 100 question test) that would be unfair to them. But everyone took the same test, and was allotted the same time, which makes it fair, and beyond reproach.

ohnoes. This is what the ammended NOE says

"The multiple-choice test will contain additional questions which will be used for research purposes only. These questions will not count toward your test score and will not be included in the protest review process. However, you should answer all questions in the test booklet".

it says we should answer all the question not MUST answer. And my other point in the amended NOE doesn't say that the research questions will be mixed in. It says aditional questions. We found this out on the day of the exam. DCAS Made a mistake there. There is something legal that can be done. this an integrity issue by doing this. and buy not telling is which were the 30 questions.

why are these guys experimenting with us?? dont you think 5 questions or even 10 would have been enough..they chose 30 to throw us off!! that is unfair!! this test was unfair.

It's interesting to see as the sample size gets larger, and statistically more accurate, my breakdown shows I got 6 out of 7 moderates wrong. Hopefully a couple of those were 'gotcha' type questions where the majority fell for it and I caught it!

Scores are hanging in the same vicinity,

Best 100
Most Likely 80
Worst Possible 73

best posible 95

most likely 71

worst posible 62

and only got to 112

84/100 and 94/112 or you can say 94/130

Arrow, just doing some quick math.. 30 out of 130 is 23% of the test. So out of the 112 you answered, there will be roughly 25 research questions, and 5 out of the 18 you didn't answer.

******************-----------------READ ME------------------********************

There has been a lot of questions about how to interpret the results from the spreadsheet.  Quite simply, the score that you are most likely to get is conveniently labeled "Most Likely".

The High and Low scores are there mostly for informational purposes only and they seem to be causing some confusion.  Both of those scores are on either end of the extremes.  Essentially, for you to get either the maximum or minimum scores that the sheet gives you, God himself would have had to make a decision on whether or not you get to be a Sergeant (and if we consider the fact that God must be a Captain or above, we can rule out any possible decision making).

As such, when attempting to determine your most probable score, look at the "Most Likely" box and you will have it.  An important note: this is an estimation based on the probability of X number of research questions affecting you.  That can slide you either towards the high or low end, but probably still not to far from the Most Likely estimate.

There aren't too many to update.  I got about 3 or 4 more keys since the last one, but it doesn't change the overall numbers significantly.

Sounds good. Again, thanks a lot for your help with this.

Off the top of your head, how many answer keys did you gather when putting the LT test spreadsheet together?

That one only had 25 keys in it, and even then, it had 91 of 100 correct on the final answer key.  It was wrong with 4 of the 75 highs, 3 of the 10 moderates, and 2 of the 15 lows.

HAS ANY OF THE KEY INSTRUCTORS COMMENTED ABOUT THE EXAM???? THERE WERE 6500 PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE TEST, THE FAIREST THING TO DO IS THROW OUT 30 WRONG ANSWERS FROM EVERYONES EXAM. THIS WILL MAKE THE LIST PROBABLY 3000 NAMES LONG BUT NO ONE COULD SUE, WHINE, OR BITCH ABOUT THINGS BEING UNFAIR. LET DCAS AND THE NYPD HIRE THE HIGHEST 1500 PEOPLE OFF THE LIST THEN CUT IT. I SPOKE TO THE GUY WHO CREATED THE KEY COURSE ON CRAM 3 OF THE SGT CLASS AND HE SAID HE SPOKE TO THE HEAD OF DCAS ABOUT THE EXAM AND THEN SAID TO ME MAKE SURE YOU FOCUS ON THE FIRST 100 QUESTIONS ONCE YOU FINISH THOSE DONT LEAVE THE OTHER QUESTIONS BLANK JUST TRY TO GET TO THEM.

You can ignore sheet 2.  I usually delete it before posting it up, but forgot since it was so late.  I just use that as a workspace when I am copying and pasting keys in.

Best Possible: 100

Most Likely: ??

Worst Possible: 88

Everytime I input my answer I never get a most likely score, what am I doing wrong? According to this, I'm at 118 out of 130 so I'm feeling pretty good about my chances of passing.
