Rising Star's letter to DCAS regarding upcoming exams

Is a waste if time taking the sgt exam of ur studying for captain... no LT or captain duties.... Different procedures have more importance to the different ranks... In-basket for the different ranks are different also, the list goes on...

Dear Rising Star students:

For the first time in our test-taking careers we have been denied the opportunity to sit for the upcoming Sergeant exam. Although DCAS added a disclaimer a few years ago stating that those ineligible for the exam may not be admitted, they have never enforced this--until now! We feel that this will set a bad precedent for a number or reasons: mainly, it will not allow us to appeal questions on behalf of our students--something we have always done since 2006. Additionally, we have always encouraged our students to take all the exams given, whether they are eligible for them or not, in order to practice (for example, those taking the November Captain exam should have also signed-up for the October Sergeant exam).

The link below is our letter of appeal to DCAS. If you signed-up for this exam, and were denied admission because of eligibility, we encourage you to send a similar letter to DCAS stating your appeal. If you would like us to help you in editing/wording your letter, please email it to us at info@risingstarpromotion.com

Best,

Tony and Ed

Oddly enough, I am a Lt who signed up for the sgt test, and I did receive an admission slip.

I don't understand what criteria they use to disqualify candidates but obviously is not on the level. Some get their admission slips and others don't.

Pretty decent of Rising Star to push the issue with DCAS. Hopefully it pays off and they can sit to take the exams again.
