Rising Star questions

I think Rising Star has the most confidence killing questions there are.  No matter how much I review and study I am always getting them wrong.  So frustrating!  Anybody frustrated with Rising Star?

Doing questions is not the only way to study........if questions kill your confidence, then don't do them !!

I had the same issue for a short time when I was studying with Rising Star. I wrote to them and explained that I wanted to throw the book away because their questions made me feel I knew nothing at all. Their reply made all the sense in the world to me and brought me back to reality quick:

Don't come apart at the seams at this point in the game!!! You have to hang in there and tough it out. Keep at it, and bear in mind the following:
Admittedly, our questions are tough from the outset for a reason - we want you to get certain things wrong NOW, so you see it and it doesn't happen again on test day. Those who average 65-80% correct on our weekly questions while studying, consistently place at the top of their lists. Hang in there! Go back to the ones you got wrong and thoroughly understand WHY you got it wrong.....was it due to you not reading carefully, did you miss something in the procedure (reading & outlining), did you not pick apart the questions correctly, etc.? It is crucial that you go back and understand why you got the questions wrong and then use that information to modify your study behavior. Being frustrated means you care, which is a great thing. Just keep at it and trust that you're doing more than your competition. When you get mad over our questions and get one wrong, take that anger and realize that you won't let that happen twice (i.e. on test day).

I've used Rising star. Their questions are for those studying to ace the test. If you're looking to get a 70 even, then no, it's not for you. For me, I need more of a safety, and it paid off. You have to decide if you want your ego stroked but fail the test or learn it, get frustrated occasionaly, but do well on the exam

I gotta agree with Jill...when I study, I go hardcore. The last thing I want is easy questions that give me a false sense of security. I'd much rather get stuff wrong before the test and see all  the fine nuances and intricate details of the wording and how they can trick you come test day. I think Rising Star does a great job of pointing that stuff out BEFORE it's too late. I'll take the frustration of difficult questions to see the tricks - for me, that's more of a confidence builder than getting easy questions right all the time.

Yeah, I like that the Rising Star Questions are hard, but as difficult and intricate they can be at times, nothing properly prepared me for the PG questions on the 2011 Lt exam. I mean I passed and I am not talking about any of the personality/judgement questions either. The actual PG questions on that exam were vague, poorly written, and I felt unprepared as I was reading them even though going into the exam I felt like I put the work in.

So who knows? I just want a fair exam, thats all I ask...
