They pretty much overfill the vacancies at my command. That shouldn't be an absolute prediction of what is going on department wide. But since my precinct is as slow as a turtle, I'd think they'd prioritize boosting sergeants in the busier ones.

As of last month the dept was below sgts necessary to be at the 1 and 8 number.

yes sir....small class of right now....700 to 800. However, recently classes have been cancelled with the election of a new mayor. It is apparently the first thing that goes when talks about budgets come to play. Could be april or cancelled all together. New academy opens december this year. Site and security supposed to be going there march. New class in new academy maybe july 2014 or jan 15

Nothing against u sgt2be but I think the fact that a new mayor is getting elected is not going to postpone a new class in January. The 1993 class was over 3K and they are coming up for retirement. They have to replace those bodies.

Delays to Academy classes don't necessarily affect promotional classes.

To the guys who got made up front..... Please continue to wear ur SGT shield so that its visible to everyone at bmocc.. LOL just incase the future sgts didn't know u are already a sgt.. Or maybe u think the future sgts sweat u....Also wear it around ur neck when u shower... Just incase....
