Hmm, if they are still promoting 38 to LT...that leaves at minimum, 38 vacancies. Now I don't believe it's just wishful thinking on my part (because I'm one of them), but I think this may solely be a passover class...if there is one at all.

Wow, what I want to know is why they are flip flopping so much all of a sudden? We never had word come down for a confirmed class that was then cancelled before the Sandy class, and now it seems like its happened 3 or 4 times.
Wow. Yesterday one guy posts 75 and today its no class. A lot of unreliable info lately. I need to stop checking this site bc its playing with my emotions. Especially since I'm less than 15 names away.

I think the passovers who have waited almost 2 years since taking the Test and have waited, for some, about a year To get promoted since the list was established should And deserve a july class and being able to stay out of trouble That long is miraculous!

I would. I need out of my command in the worst way. I was less than 200 names when a class went in in December and here we are going into ****ing July and im still waiting. Even though im less than 25 names I still didnt expect to go in the next class. The fact that 75 were "CONFIRMED" so early in the month, I KNEW THAT WOULDN'T last. Its like the job is just playing games now. I told everyone im expecting the worst and guessed id be in the September class. Now it looks like reality. Great...

when i say something is CONFIRMED, well, i mean it................the words CONFIRMED and GUARANTEED have different meanings

Lmao.. anyone who gets made before the LT exam is given is golden.. That should be the only concern, but I def think well be made well before then.

This is exactly the right attitude to have. Honestly, I've heard this from a few lieutenants, and I'm experiencing it a little myself, that Sgt. is a worse rank in many ways than PO, but LT is so much better than either that it's worth it. Enjoy only being responsible for yourself, being able to determine how much overtime you do (for the most part), not being at the bottom of the seniority totem pole and not having your performance evaluated on criteria that are, for the most part, out of your control.
In no way do I regret getting promoted, but unless you are really suffering where you are as a cop, a few extra months may not be the worst thing in the world.
Unless you go to transit as a boss, thats a whole other story ;)

yeah don't worry. Brat has said millions of times list is good and yes, Common sense should tell you list is going all the way. Just ignore the forums if it messes With your mind too much.
The main reason you should be pissed if you are far on the list is that with more down months you will probably miss the lieutenants exam. Every down month will lower your chances of taking te test. Other than that don't stress it.
Btw the class wasn't completely scrapped. Hopefully they put a small class in at the very least. Any movement at all is always less names on the list. If they don't then oh well....there will always be next month.
Stop freakin out.Everything is gonna work out just be patient and wait to see if they put a class in like spartan said.They havent even taken the October sgt test to see how many people passed.Yea you can study for the next test "just to be safe" but you can end up getting a 78 or 80 and faced with the same rumors that your hearing now.They have said the list is gettiNg cut for every exam taken take a look at older post from the older test.

Its amazing how one week its steady bmoc classes for the summer 75 guys goin in confirmed, then a week later for no apparent reason it becomes tiny class if at all. The term "confirmed" has become so overused on this forum that it has no meaning anymore.
Like everything else on this job it's subject to change and always at the last minute. A finest will come down next week or it won't; it'll have 36 names or 75. The best you can do is stay out of trouble and daydream about where you want to go as a boss. Your name is on the list and you're getting made at some point.
The best thing about reading this forums is finding out they're people like me that can't wait for a change more than anything . To get out of my command I had to take the test because they would let me out. Now being 50 names away, not including pass overs, it seems so far away. I'm hoping to make it in the August class because I figured July would be just for pass overs, but it looks like September. I hoping to make it without getting jammed up or any allegations against me from the people we encounter on a daily basis. Hopefully, the next few months will go by quickly. Good luck to all and let's hope the power that be at least put passovers in July. Whatsinthebox you are on point with your comment. Might as well wait for the finest message.
Spartan have u heard different info about july not being completely scrapped cuz they are saying in the june bmoc post that they said it was cancelled. Just curious since even a tiny class is better than nothing. Anyone else completely miserable over the likelihood of a slow summer for bmoc?

This slow down is killing all of us but we can't control it so why stress yourself about it. I understand people who want to leave a bad command and trust me I want a change myself I'm just going to keep positive and hope for the best for all of us to make it .

If it doesn't happen then don't worry....they will promote for sure with a new budget July first. Still unknown why they canceled this class. Stock market took a massive dive a few days ago. Worst in the past decade. Might have scared a few big wigs. On the positive side the city finished the year with 1.5 billion dollars in revenue. That's always a plus for us. I'm sure we will promote plenty of sgts this year. Just wait it out. Some of you are rushing to get promoted and rush out of one misery and jump into a new misery...lol enjoy your time as a cop. Grass isn't always greener. Try to make the last few months as a cop count as good ones.

Thanks for the clarification spartan. Im sure things will pick up. Its hard to sit through the inconsistancy when your miserable at your command but your probably right when you say we are trading one miserable spot for another. Thanks again.
IF that were the case, then I'm jealous, and I'm sure most people no matter the rank is too.
