I got promoted in Oct 2012. Took a major pay cut. I suggest you put some money aside and prepare for a reduction of income. I lost seniority, OT, Paid detail and I am feeling it 7 months later. You will move on to you next command with all the added responsibility and not be compensated for it! Just a heads up ( and a little bit of venting). Good Luck!

Impact is def much better then patrol... other then the fact all the rookies instantly say for everything " I dunno the SGT told me to"

 and you will be miserable! impact is a great gig. Ofcourse it has its drawbacks, however compared to patrol, its a walk in the park.

Impact is the gig! Eager cops, 4 hour meals, guaranteed overtime good vacay picks!

Patrol is for the birds. No OT, getting bounced from a tour cause of bull**** initiatives, Denied 28s, crap vacation picks.

If you have a big enough hook, go to Midtown South or Midtown North. Its the last place on the Job where Sergeants make tons of overtime and no headaches.
