While in Bmoc, do they issue white vest carriers, or do you have to buy them? Also what ever happened to the job supplying new vests to those that have the old style?
I heard second chance went out of business. I don't know how true that is. Who's the vest supplier now for the new recruits? I know the females got better fitting vests. I believe they were supplied by safariland.
Didnt the job state years ago, that they were going to give new vests that covered the sides to people with the old style? I believe this happened after the Dillon Stewart shooting.

I doubt it, they still have a functioning website.
I just recently got the newer vest the department has started to issue. PROTECTIVE PRODUCTS makes them and you can check them out on their website at www.body-armor.com. Second Chance no longer has the contract with the department. I'm not exactly sure when they switched over from Second Chance to Protective Products but I know all the new recruits are being fitting with these new vest. My Second Chance vest wasn't more than 5 yrs old when I got notified to get fitted for the newer vest. I got lucky. I was told that they were testing my batch and that's why I was getting a new vest. I asked how often do they change vest and they told me that its random and you could go your whole career with the same vest. He did mention that its recommended that the vest be replaced after 5 yrs but that vest that were over 15-20 yrs old still stood up to their standards. As for the white vest carrier your best bet is to either ask the vest unit for one or reach out to the company that makes the vest.
I've had the same vest for 10 years now, second chance, even with the flaps closed, I have the wide open part under the armpit where a bullet can go right through, thanks NYPD for switching it out, NOT.
