OCCB Draft.

I heard a humor last night (from a reliable source) that OCCB will be drafting from the back of our list and also the current LT list. So the reason for my post is:

1. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

2. What list numbers would be drafted?

3. Time frame of the draft if true?

Thanks in advance, no I'm not a troll.

What does the back of our list mean, And would it be a bad thing to be drafted into occb?

I've never heard of them drafting PO's for anything. Sure it's possible but why would they? Plus if there's some promotion slowdown and you wind up being there for 18 months, they have to give you the shield.

When I was in bmoc in march there was a lt that came and spoke to us. He said he was drafted to occb since he is on the capt list

Sgts and Lts get drafted to IAB/OCCB off of promotional lists all the time. Cops are not subject to getting drafted.

Maybe they meant once we get promoted we will get drafted?

Just so it is clear... What I was told that they are going to draft cops into OCCB, not just sgts. I asked him what he meant about it he said basically that OCCB is hurting for cops (which I figure means narcotics...completely my idea) and that since our list is so big that if someone dies on the list they are stuck in OCCB until the next list basically. And yea that would mean you make detective. From what he made it sound like they really don't care if you make detective or not because they need the personnel. Keeping that all in mind he could of been mistaken with what he heard or something. But from what I'm under the impression of is that cops and sgts will be drafted into OCCB soon. If anyone can give us cold hard facts please keep us updated.

OCCB is hurting for cops. But I believe they will probably only take those on Lts. list like they did on the last Lts. List. If you go before the board, OCCB has first shot at the Sgts. Before it was IAB but now its OCCB because they are hurting for Sgts. I don't think they would draft cops. If anything they may go after the SNEU guys who have some type of Narco. Experience. My Old Sgt. Told me that was the case in the 90's. If you are on Sgts. List I wouldn't worry.

Back in 1997 they drafted from the sgt list to occb from the list. Good to see what occb is about. Bad because some guys from who wanted to get out of there boro wound up back in there Boro. No one made Detective they were promoted before the 18 months.

This is 1 million percent bull**** you need to average 25 collars a year to even get an interview. That's just an interview. So you need 112 collars by the time you apply with 5 years (6 months in acadamey) this criteria is of last year. Chief reznik wants guys who were crime/sneu or FIO's and have some knowledge of assisting or executing search warrants. This is because you mainly focus on kites. OCCB training is a month long with weekends off. 2 weeks in the Bronx where you get the esu training to boom your own doors. Guys are getting sent back with white shields with 17 months because they can't cut it.

My point: OCCB is in desperate need of cops (Occb is now narcotics firearms gang vice and auto crime) you don't apply separately for these anymore. You can express an interest in where you would like to go or call a hook to get there. Problem is they can't find anyone willing to put up with the ridiculous amounts of investigations. It's no cup cake land and it's hard work. If you like being a Cop do it!! For proof call 1pp occb narcotics and ask for an application and say you have 10 years on and 80 collars.. They don't want you!

Yes we are drafting bosses every day along with the rat squad in the rank of sgt and up... NO COPS! So don't worry you do nothing's! J/king. Lol your not all do nothing's :)

I agree with Spartan. I was in Brooklyn Narco. for 6 years. I had a great time. The guys are great to work with, but if you have a family its not the place to go. You get bombarded with kites, while they expect you to do B&B. Its not fun, and God forbid your kite gets pulled. The O/T is good, but its blood money (Hospitalized prisoners, getting off at midnight, and have to come back at 0400hrs for a Search Warrant). Once your in its pretty hard to get out unless you apply to another unit within OCCB. it is true that they have been sending guys back before there 18 months. Auto crime, FIU, and Gang are good. If you are on Lts. list there is a good chance that they may try to pick you up while you wait to be called (they did it to the guys on last Lts. list). On the bright side there have been many Sergeants who have gone before the board hoping to get picked up by OCCB.
