RE: Hows FTU for Sgts after BMOC????

Bigfoot, look around.......what do you see? 3/4's of this job has 10 years and under. In my book that makes me an old timer. Hell, I am number one in my squad...so yeah I am the old fool in my squad as well. Up until now I basically respected what you had to say Bigfoot but now I can conclude you are just another rookie trying to thumb his nose at the caste system of time. Bigfoot, you are an idiot to bad mouth a 15 year veteran who has done his time in rank. Through no fault of his own he has become antiquate partly due to the computerized system changes that were implemented when I just got on. I recall old timers asking me how to use the new 61 system when I got to my command and guess what....I NEVER BLAMED THEM OR CALLED THEM NAMES! You sir, are the ultimate fool for blaming the man instead of the system. Yet another rookie bum trying to make himself important by printing out a copy of his BADS and proclaiming himself king of all the "TOOLS".

Like I said I am on the cusp of having 10 and my list number is on the other side of 1000. I figure I shall have about 12 years on when I finally get promoted. If these facts disturb you then might I suggest you bury your disgust in some collars consisting of old ladies or bicycle riders. Until you discover the error of your ways please rest easy knowing that I continue to collect a nice salary for doing the bare minimum. You and I most likely make the same pay but you are the one lost in the cool aid and when reality seeps in you choose to blame the old timer for not putting in enough work when in fact it is you who should blame yourself for being a fool. This is a mentality I carry forward with me and will encourage others to follow. My time allows me this luxury. This is a boast I can make and not you partly due to the fact that you are a "ROOKIE". Do me a favor and keep your eyes open and your mouth shut and maybe just maybe you might learn a thing or two before you get promoted.

Now, feel free to delete my post in order to make yourself feel better.

God bless, sleep tight and do not forget to sip on your vintage brewed cool aid.

Johnny, you dolt, it is not wise to put a moderator in his place. That being said, I agree with you but I suspect your account shall be banned soon.

Nice knowing you , moron!

Cupcakes.... you don't even have a second hashmark on yet.  You sound like a joke.  Nine years wow.....  Lets all hail this nine year vet who most likely failed the 06 07 08 and 09 Sgt exam.  Fifth time is a charm.  My command has plenty of legit old timers that would punk you if you tried to brag about having 9 years. Now there are plenty of old timers in my command that were good cops and continue to be good cops, adapting to modern times.  There are also a couple that are tactical nightmares, lazy, and borderline retarded.  This is the veteran that talks about his time on and likes to rookie bash.  Sounds like you cupcakes. BTW... like I said before.. I only ban trolls, not guys with different opinions

Bigfoot, shame on you for disrespecting time. When I came on the job the first thing that the 4X12 delegate told all the rookies was: "RESPECT THE TIME FOR YOU WILL HAVE THE TIME YOURSELF ONE DAY"
I never forgot what he told me and as a result I always respect anyone who has more time than me.
Why?
Cause it is the last tradition struggling to stay alive within the NYPD.
To many new jacks believe they are beyond the time thing until they themselves get some semblance of time on the job.
Ironically it is at this point that these guys start to bitch about how their time is not respected.
What goes around comes around, right Bigfoot?

Mr. JohnnyCakes, well said even if you did disrespect a forum mod.

Sorry Bigfoot, but in this day and age the respect of "TIME" is all that we have left. Once that crumbles we will be left with the chaos of a dog eat dog world. This is the sort of chaos that the administration has long sought after. If they had their way the "TIME" aspect of this job would be done away with and anyone who dared to drop productivity below an administration sanction level would be fed to the wolves. Be thankful that you work under a "TIME" based system because one day you will come across that rookie who will call you lazy for not bringing in the activity he does.

In my book, time is indeed everything.

P.S, I have 7 years on

I'm not saying time is not to be respected.  It is just not the only thing or the most important thing.  Why does time on the job equate to having to be a hairbag in your mind.  I'm sure you guys all know plenty of vets that are still respectable cops.  Respect is earned.... not merely accumulated by longevity.

Bigfoot, a guy with 15-20 years on the job does not have to earn any respect from my rookie ass or yours. He worked this job when the streets where averaging over 2000 murders a year. I tip my hat to anyone who was around during that chaos. The crime of today is nothing compared to the crime of yester-year and yet you want to put yourself on par with these veterans? I, for one, know when to be humble and respectful. They have done their time so if they want to relax before they retire so be it. If I get sent to a cruddy detail instead of them, so be it. If I get the first meal instead of the last, so be it. I choose to see them for what they have already done for us and not what they are doing for us now. That respect you seek from them should be given to them instead.

I can not further bare to discuss this with the likes of people who do not understand what a veteran is. What they have already accomplished to get this far in their careers speaks volumes over anything a 5 year rookie had to endure in his or her short career.

I sense that this job is doomed with the belief structure of some of these future sgts.

Thank you all for agreeing with me. At least there are still a few guardians of the ritual called "time".

I'm tired of this time on the job crap. I know 10 and 15 year cops on patrol who scam scam scam... Just like a 5 year guy who scams... All they do is dick over other cops. When I first got on the job you saw who the good cops were and who were the dicks. Many a guy with time on helped me out with jobs, arrests, spots where you were more likely to get a collar. Those guys passed on their information from their time on the job. I've also ran into guys with time on who looked at me like I had ten heads when I had the common courtesy of just saying hello or good morning. Those same time on guys got screwed for details and looked for me and guys with less time on to do details for them and impact overtime. I gladly took those from guys who at least treated me like a person. Those other guys not so much eff off douche.

Its not about the time on the job its what you do with the time on the job. I have no problem respecting your time on the job as long as you respect the fact that im an man first before im a cop.

"Those same time on guys got screwed for details and looked for me and guys with less time on to do details for them and impact overtime."

Who are you kidding. If I stroll into roll call and tell them I have more time than you guess who is flying instead of me?....YOU! Stop right there with them b/s tails that you did senior guys a favor and took their spot for a detail. Many a time I was notified by some new PAA who did not know any better only to have me march right into roll call and set shiit straight. THE ROOKIE FLIES OVER ME AND THE ONLY PERSON TRUMPING ME HAS MORE TIME THAN ME!

Get used to that, rookie!

So many bitter rookies on this forum pissed off because they lack the time or the humility to respect veterans. I wonder what crap they will be spewing when they hit the 15 year mark. I would give a ton of money to be there when all of a sudden they get the same shiit they been dishing out.

Spoken like the tool bag that you are, supercop. Do us a favor and tell your story walking. You keep busting your hump for that imaginary recognition you been promised and I will just do what I am paid to do and nothing more. We will both make the same money but it is you who will complain the most about it. God, how I hate whiny skirts.

Maybe that's how it goes in your command vanes. Things are a little different here roll call here asks what day works
Why cause many of us aren't douches and treat roll call... Like people. Obviously you feel that your better cause of your time. So be it. Im not even gonna address the bitter part. Because I do this job for 2 reasons... Pension and paycheck. I'm not gonna get the same stuff im spewing because I take each person for who they are and not the time they have on. Its obvious you missed the point I was trying to make so have fun thumping your chest about time and take care and stay safe out there.

I will pray for your command where obviously there is no pecking order according to time on the job. You might like that now because you are on the **** end of the stick but I sure as hell would give serious money to see a rookie bump you and watch you go to a detail just because as you say the roll call here is fair...LOL!

By the way.....YES I AM NOT BETTER THAN YOU BUT I DO HAVE MORE TIME THAN YOU!....AND BEING SUCH YOU FLY BEFORE ME.....END OF STORY AND THAT IS THE WAY ITS SUPPOSE TO BE!................Do you get the point now or are you just plain ole obtuse?

What a buffoon you are.

Did you just call every PO with time on the Job a zero happy with being a nobody and collecting a check?  Not cool pal....  Good luck to the cops your gonna be supervising.  Just make sure you don't call them zero's to their faces....  I really can't believe some of the $hit I read on this forum.

Then again, with some of the bosses I've dealt with in my career....  I guess I can believe some of the things I've read.

Que, this is what I have been dealing all night long. These cool aid drinking fellas just do not get the point about veterans. Oh well, at least i will do my part to treat my guys with respect on a time based scale. Rookies have to prove themselves while the veterans have already earned that honor.

This job is doomed by reading the comments of some of these so called bossed to be. Not even in BMOC yet and they are lining up for the cool aid they are serving.

I'm a "rookie scumbag" but its quite obvious to me that whackinitup is a tool box. And although he might be trolling to get everyone riled up, there are bosses exactly like that. Had one exactly like him. Complete piece of garbage.
PS 511's and vouchering the icy ladies cart in the summer does not make u a real cop. Working in a A-house starting the night with 3 cars, Handling 30+ jobs, not even planning to get meal, doing 6 61's, 5 DIRS, 5 PARS, 2 aideds, going to heavy job after heavy job and never having the sergeant show up to any of your jobs except when he wants a scratch, that's what makes a real cop and more likely a better boss.

I am sure Bigfoot refers to those old timers who think that they shouldn't answer jobs on their sector because they have time on. I have come across a couple of those myself and I don't see why they think this is true. Are they not getting paid just like the rest of us? Don't get me wrong though, I completely agree that there is no reason why a person with Time on should get stuck on a ****ty job when a person with less time is available. However, just because they have time on doesn't mean they shouldnt do their job. N for those of u wondering I am a 7 1/2 yr rookie.

Time should be respected. Anyone who fails to respect a veteran is doomed to feel the wrath of karma when they finally attain said time.

On the $ with that one. When that guy finally makes rank he is gonna be stumped for the first 3-4 months. My advice to him is to get a good driver, basically the kind of guy he claims to be upset about. 10 years all patrol and knows everything that he doesn't so he can tell the rookie sgt how it's gonna really go. If u stir up your cops they will hate u, if u understand that this job is just a job and we have life outside of work and family comes first ect then u will get the respect and they will reward you by taking the co off your back. That's patrol for u. Give respect to ur guys and they show u the way rookie conditions guy

Yes, Whackinitup is an immense tool box. Rookies with his attitude should be made to pass a 2nd psychological exam. He has narcissistic qualities.

JohnnyCakes just so you know vacation picks for sergeants go by time in rank not time on the job, so there will be a lot of guys with less time than you picking first.
