Veteran"s Credit.

Happy Holidays everyone! I got a letter in the mail the other day from DCAS, the letter states I have an interview and my fingerprints be taken with regards to promotion to Sergeant. The interview in on the 19th of January. It's for verification of Military Service. Anyone else receive a letter? How many points does Veterans Credit allow? Any info will be much appreciated! BTW, the interview is being held at 1 Center Street.

2.5 points and you can only use them once.

Yea I got the same letter. My advice would to be save them for LT or Capt (if you plan to make Lt/Capt that is). I checked that box too but I'm not going to use them on the sgt exam. Big thing is 2.5 points that can only be used ONCE. So make them count.

Not sure if you will get the letter or not. The phone # on the form is 212-669-3048. I'm at a 93 without the veterans credit.

When did they change the points from 5 to 2.5? Anyone have a link, can't seem to find any documentation on DCAS website?

I got a 71 with the throw out.. so I may very well take that 2.5 that will boost my overall score to an 81 not including departmentawards. Suntrust, I thought it was 5 points as well, but then I thought maybe that's residential credit (which we no longer can claim). I could not find it either so 2.5 is good enough for me if it indeed is 5 that even better though I doubt it's that much.

Save the points for Lt exam. An 80 is a very good score. The lt exam is a lot more competitive.

I hear ya...good luck with that. I unfortunately received a 68 and was hoping two questions get thrown out at the least, but they have to be the right 2 questions that I got wrong. I got question #97 correct!
