Protest Examples From The Key

They didn't make any mention of whether they were going to send a respresentative of the company to any of the protests, but obviously it would be in the best interest of their company to do so.

The Key P.O. Box 39 Blauvelt, NY 10913

To assist in the protest sessions for the 2011 Lieutenant Test

Examples of 4 questions from the 2010 Captains test that ended up being thrown out upon protest. Pay no mind to the fact that these are mostly Captain duties. What were looking at is the PRINCIPLES in play. Heres how it was done.

All four of these questions asked for the correct choice. The other 3 choices were specifically/technically wrong. Below is how the correct choice was proved wrong;

1. This question was about a hazardous, sensitive location. Their correct answer was;

A. Submit a Typed Letterhead by November 15th, to the Office of the Chief of Department

a. the A.G. says BEFORE Nov 15th and, although it does go to Chief of Dept they mistakenly left off THROUGH CHANNELS!!!

2. C.E.D. used by a Lt., darts fired but didnt penetrate so he used it in Touch Stun mode. Touch Stun makes you, the Captain, the Investigating Supervisor. This was their correct choice;

B. Direct the Lt to prepare the Less Lethal Report regardless of whether the darts penetrated.

a. Yes its TRUE that you make the rpt regardless of the probes making contact. BUT, they forgot their own premise: THE CAPTAIN is the I.S. & so prepares the report NOT the Lt.

3. Youre a C.O. and suspend two cops, one works for you, the other works elsewhere. Their correct choice said;

C. Prepare the Charges for your guy and tell the other C.O. to prepare charges for his.

a. Although the C.O. of a suspended member does in fact prepare the charges, its not up to one C.O. to inform the other. There is no such step in the P.G. You make your charges for your guy, the other C.O. is not your business.

4.. Investigating CCRBs that come in from Chief of Department as communications. They gave three specifically wrong choices that used unjustified summonses, etc. as the reason for the complaint but invalidated the choice with either the wrong number of days to complete, etc.

Their correct choice said;

D. The complaint is about a cop getting a fee meal but the complainant didnt get his name.

The choice said to conduct a lineup.

a. Conducting a line up is correct according to the A.G. procedure BUT, this is a CORRUPTION ALLEGATION and should/would never end up as a communication from Chief of Dept. Even if it did YOU should call IAB upon receipt.

This should help, good luck this week,

The entire team at The Key

They screwed up a lot of questions. We need to take our time at the protest and break them down.

While reading this email I thought to myself, why do these questions sound more straight forward then the LT test. There's hope!

These four captains quest's that were protested successfully are definetly much more straightforward than the horsesh*t we had!

Looking at these examples it looks like the aided question will get thrown out. They should have put acr or pcr number in the activity log, or advised how the person was removed, definite throw out. There was no right answer for the aided question.

I liked the key also. Just because rising star happened to get lucky and mention some out dated book that may or may not have been used means nothing. EVERYONE got blind sided by this test. It is not the school's fault, no one could have seen this coming. We should not blame the city and no one else.
