DID ANYONE ELSE NOT FINISH?

I left a good 12 blank and didnt even have time to bubble in a guess because the bell rang and the proctor snatched it off my desk.  Feel like an idiot.

I didn't finish, I filled in my last 4 randomly as the proctor ripped my sheet of my desk.  There were still 15 people in my classroom when the bell rang.  I wasn't even able to fill out my take home answer sheet, so I won't even know if I made it until the list comes out in a year or two.

Conversley on my sergeants test I had enough time to go over all my answers twice, and still left before the bell.  The math questions through the judgement questions were very time consuming as they had to be read carefully, and the in basket...I spent five minutes trying to find the page that said who I was and what the date and tour were.

Thanks, I'll contact DCAS about that, at least then I'll know I failed and won't have to wonder for two years.

Don't feel like a idiot I lot of people including myself did.  I spoke to two other friends/coworkers who both like myself studies hard and they both said that they either didnt finish the answers or just had to guess a lot of them at the end.

There is absolutely no way that somebody unprepared could properly take the correct amount of time needed to answer those 100 questions. If they want to make a test like that they have to give more time, and also give more of a general idea of what is going to be tested.

I understand a lot of people out here are of course wanting to protest double answers, and throwouts and thats all good, but that doesnt take away from the fact that this entire piece of crap needs to be thrown out.  Is it fair that people like us who studied hard didnt have enough time because we wasted a half hour looking around to see if there was a time listed somewhere, anywhere on the in-basket??   or had to answer stupid questions about toilet papar??

The only option in my book which is proper is either throw out the test or lawsuit.

LAWSUIT LAWSUIT LAWSUIT!!!!!!!!

And also what was the point of having study material up on the NYPD website if yuo arent going to discuss what 40% of the test will be on?? Who is in charge of putting that stuff up?? Where does it come from?? Does anybody know?? If so please tell me, that in by of itself should be grounds for a lawsuit. Think about how messed up that is for just a second!!!

THROW THE ENTIRE TEST OUT, HAVE ANOTHER WHERE PEOPLE CAN PROPERLY PREPARE OR LAWSUIT LAWSUIT LAWSUIT!!!!

FNM, I agree with you about the NYPD study material.  If you are truly trying to aid people in studying, try to point them in the right direction, especially when this test is a complete deviation from every exam we have seen before.

The people from the academy who did that, did what every school does---based their material from past experience.  That's all you can do.

I understand what the job is trying to do, in regards to having a exam based more on using practical knowledge, being able to make rational decisions, the stuff that makes a good boss. However you do not use the lives of thousands of hard working, dedicated family men/woman as Guinea Pigs to do so. Thats all we were. If they wanted to make this transition why couldnt it be done in a fair way? Where people who studied hard wouldnt be screwed? Why not only have 2-5 of such type questions where it wouldnt have had a tremedous impact on the total outcome of the exam. Than for future tests, you continually add more of these types of questions while also giving prospective student an idea of what they need to know.

And if the job is trying to make a test that is more relevant, than how come there was not even one question on C.I.M.S. In my opinion that is one of the most important and relevant chapters that all bosses need to know about. It was written as a result of 9-11 to organize a proper structure of governance and to prevent inter-agency fighting during a emergency. In a large scale C.I.M.S incident Lieutenants are going to have a lot of very important responsibilities that effect the lives of a lot of people, but this isnt important to test? I knew that chapter like the back of my hand but instead of that I was asked about toilet paper, crying adult babies, and not knowing who i am or what time it is on a roll call? Is that realistic?

Would something like that ever happen at a private company or any other public agency where if you went to that agencies website looking for information and advice of what to study for a upcoming promotional exam but than they dont tell you about 40% of what will be tested? I am not a lawyer but wouldnt that be in itself grounds for a lawsuit? Seems pretty open and closed cut and dry to me.

No knock on the people from the academy, but if the job is going to completley change the test, maybe they should have let them know. Especially when they know people spend a lot more time on certain sections that are usually heavily tested, such as 202, cims, moving complaints, lodi, etc.

I did not finish either. I had eight left when this crazy proctor went banannnnnnas! She started screaming "PENCILS DOWN! GET THE PENCILS OUT OF YOUR HANDS RIGHT NOW OF YOU'RE GOING TO BE DISQUALIFIED" It was so odd. It was like something out of a crazy testing movie. ..lol..

I dont know about any of you, but the whole thing reminded me of an election detail ..lol.. you have crack heads that are given a job and suddenly, for that period in time, they become the most serious people on the planet ..lol.. Give me a break!

I don't know where they found so many unprofessional people, my proctor smelled like she hadn't bathed in a week and at one point she was trying out new ringtones on her phone, and the guy by the bathroom kept staring at me, I think I did a warrant on his apartment. They did go nuts when that bell rang...I just hope my answer key made it back to dcas

I had to guess about 8 questions in the inbasket not counting a few others on the other part of the exam because of the time constraints SMFH,..

BOTH, LAWSUIT AND THROW IT OUT. DON'T EVEN GIVE DCAS A CHANCE TO CERTIFY THIS LIST.

To all of those this may concern. It will do us no good to complain amongst each other. You have to step outside of the box and complain to the source, the P.C.,your union AND ESPECIALLY DCAS. Flood their emails and mail box and then notify the media. This will be a bigger embarrassment than the capt's exam

CONTACT DCAS IN WRITING AT: NYC DEPARTMENT OF CITYWIDE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE, ONE CENTRE STREET, 17th FLOUR SOUTH, NEW YORK, NEW YOR, 10007 AND YOU CAN ALSO CALL THEM AT 212-669-7000 IF YOUR DISGUSTED WITH EXAM. DON'T JUST TALK ABOUT IT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT!

I say we dont wait for the DCAS session, I say all of us go organize and rally outside there next week and protest this thing. I am up for helping to organize this thing in anyway that I can. If anybody has skills in knowing how to set up a website, than please help us out, we have to create a website where all of us can go and be properly be organized so we can work together, one where others can go to and hear our word. This has to be done quickly. I am up for helping out in anyway possible. If anybody wants to provately email me on here let me know.
