Fair test ?

So how fair would you say the test was ? I didn't plan on it to have 25% of it to be admin guide.

Questions 68-72 I think was math. afterwards I have no clue where the rest of the questions come from. Was it admin guide? did anyone else spent half an hour on in-basket trying to figure out who you was?

There will be a lawsuit on this exam, it was more a personality test or an opinion test than an actual promotional exam. Only about50-60 PG questions and they were not all fair either.
Without giving away where they went on the PG to the Sabbath observers I will just say that many sections were left out completely and I mean sections that are usually tested. I am baffled by what I just sat down and saw.

I studied for 6 months only to hope that my opinions match DCAS? Also I had to rush the last 10 questions, the test took a long time to read through.

How to grade opinions that conflict with PG procedures? I mean they allowed stealing dept property, not reporting EEO's, and many other gems I am trying to recall...

Exactly. Judgement questions should not b allowed. What descision u make might be right for u but wrong for someone else. Theres no fair way to tell whats the correct answer

What about the one with the PAA crying? I mean what could you do? There is nothing to solve the problem of the people waiting? Or the old man complaining about noise and the cop gives up the previous tour for not documenting the call? Do you just address the old man's problem and dispatch a car or give the previous tour MOS a CD?

It is fair if it is the same for everybody. Those were leadership questions.

To the one person who voted "yes" to this being a fair test, please slap yourself, this sucked.... None of the test prep courses could have seen this coming. Oh and a shout out to the guy who spent 45 minutes before the test arguing and crying to 3 DCAS proctors and a supervisor because you didnt bring a watch and asked if they could supply you one!

15 opinion quests, 5 ridiculous math questions, 7 english/grammar questions, listening to females talk in the locker room, PAA's crying in the 124 room, figuring out if you should stay late to help the Capt. What the F***?? Thought i was taking a high school entrance exam. Good Luck to those who passed. SBA 4 life!!

I think the test was fair. They just started to test more common sense then memorization of the patrol guide. They did mention it in papers some time ago that Kelly was planning to do that.

so why then tell me to memorize hundreds of things .. study my ass off then have you ask me things that go against our guidelines smart guy???

They always ask you to memorize things that are hardly ever get questioned on (eg. personnel memos, bulletins, mayor's orders and so on). Who's to say that 90% of the test was suppose to be on patrol guide. I can see why they went this way cause we have too many tools on this job with a photographic memory.

@OnTheFence. I'm with you. I am going to report this DCAS corruption to Captain Morgan. (I hope that is "standard English")

Thats just it, the judgement questions often contradicted the PG!!! How can any answer be "correct" when you condone or enable stealing dept property or discussing an EEO complaint rather than reporting it? Total nonsense! How can anyone in their right mind call that test "fair"???

I keep seeing reference to condoning stealing property but not sure which question is being talked about. Without giving away anything, can somebody please tell me which question is being talked about? Was it the one with the 2 females at roll call?

What about not reporting an EEO? That is a big no-no. Or authorizing administrative overtime or authorizing a checkpoint as a Lieutenant? Those were judgement questions that are obviously not duties a Lt is allowed to do

Abeyance. My cop didn't abeyance my order so I yelled at him a lot (in private of course). Abeyance.

I honestly have no clue, how I did on this test, you could tell me I got an 80 or a 40, and neither would surprise me. One of the most bizarre exams I've ever taken.

Anyone think about how this test was extremely expensive compared to past tests. Anyone take it at Grace Dodge in the Bronx...No food, only a bottle of water aloud until the "JANITOR" changed his mind? The whole test experience was a disaster!

Did anyone else get the letter in the mail from DCAS "Thank you for taking our experimental test, ha ha we got you, the real test is next saturday and will ask stuff that you can actually study for."

Wait, that was just me dreaming.

The janitor didnt change his mind, it was the old dcas guy who called us a**holes cya'ing himself in typical NYC shakebox fashion just in case someone was diabetic or had a medical condition that required a ham sandwhich.
