Did anyone else know that we are not eligible to take the Sgt. Test?

Just got a notice from DCAS yesterday stating something to the effect of "you are not in the eligible rank to take this exam".  Obviously, I knew this, but I have heard that people have taken these exams without being in the proper rank. Guess I just wasted $90.

The department issued a finest message stating that DCAS would be conducting background investigations to determine eligibility for both exams and if found ineligible an admission card will not be sent. Unfortunately for me I noticed d finest after filing. I wonder though why they're doing this, it has been a common practice for a very long time.

It's new , this is the first exam that they are doing it. I was gonna file for it and one of the Instructirs at the Key told us that in class so
I never filed.

Yanosik from the Fast Track said at Monday's cram class that the "job" did not want Sgt's filing for the Sgt's exam as a warm-up, something to do with patrol coverage and not wanting to lean on Lts in every command for two Saturdays two weeks apart.

Sounds far fetched but believable the way this job works.

 Lol.

If I pass this Lt exam with a respectable score, I plan on taking this upcoming Capt's test for practice. I wonder if they'll let me take it or not. evileye

Supposedly now you can only take tests you are eligible for. So no more taking tests just for practice or experience. Iit seems you will just be wasting your money as you will not get admission card.

Maybe because the city is so cheap that the SGT and LT test have the exact same questions on them!
