New LT list, promoted in time?

Anyone think those of us taking the 10/29 LT test will be promoted in time to sit for the Capt test?

Score 88 or higher and it would be most likely. For now, LT is good enough for me though.

Brat, you don't think so? One of the instructors said it and he's usually right on.

First of all .........no one REALLY KNOWS !!!!!!!!!

Secondly, my take on it is...........the Lt list gets killed in April and they give the exam prior to the first class they make from the new list (product of 10/29) exam.

If you want to think that maybe the Dept would want to do the right thing (assuming that long shot), they make only 1 class from the new list (getting cream of the crop) and include them, but I find that highly unlikely.  They would have to end and start a new list all within 1 month.  This job doesnt move that fast.

Doubt it, the upcoming Captain exam is tentatively scheduled for May of 2012 and the current LT list expiring April of next year. Even if ur #1 on the list the department would have to put in a class a month before the test which is highly unlikely since the current list expires on the same month. Unless the test gets pushed back but doubt that will occur.

They don't have to put in a class a month before. As a Lt. you get promoted first, then go to the academy. The could promote on Friday and you could sit for the test on Saturday...(theoretically). Def a long shot but who knows

Very good questions here. Well, they just reached promoting guys who scored in the low-mid 80s on the last test, and that was given 6 years ago. So, if my calculations are correct, you would need to score approxately a 279 on this upcoming LTs test to have a crack at it. Fingers crossed!

Why would they be offering the captains test when the list for the 2010 test is still very long? just curious? they arent promoting 100 captains anytime soon

"they" feel that retirements are going to surge towards the latter part of the year and feel as though the list will be exhausted by mid 2012

How would anybody taking the 10/29 LT exam be eligible to take the captains exam ? Are you eligible just on making the lieutenants list alone ?

Thats how I feel LOL. I'm lost based on the whole conversation. There's no way anyone taking the 10/29 exam is going to sit for that captains exam.
