I dont believe they have a "compstat" type evaluation for the classes, but from what I've seen, taking two sgt classes , is that the fast track was ahead of the game w the total guide and the CDs.. But then the key got CDs, and with Shea and the amazing cram classes, I've seen those who put the time w the key, pass at a good rate, alot of 1st time test takers pass...I also believe for the amount of $$ your spending and the crazy bundles of cash the instructors are making, Yhe key definately gives you the $$ worth... 1st Shea is the best In the police Dept, and not many would disagree.. And 2nd, I've definately noticed the instructors answer the female questions w more intrest than if a male student would ask, many times I've seen an instructor tell amale student, ask next week when so and so is doing the class, where if a female asked the question they go above and beyond... 3rd the key gives you more respect by wearing collared shirts rather than fleece sweatshirts... If I pay I want respect... I'm sure you won't be disapointed in the key... Good luck!

I have only taken key and academy classes but agree with the statement above about the key. They are professional, organized and were on point last sgts exam. I find their handouts and CDs very informative. I also thought the questions from rising star were great. The questions were complicated but helped me not make the same mistake twice.

Housing DVO, when people respect their cutomers, and dress well it's greatly appreciated...it comes all together. Do I care whether they wear a suit or a wife beater ?!? No, of course not, but if I'm paying top dollar, I don't want some instructors who think I should just pay to listen to them, cause they stand on a chair...if u really watch them, u will see they give the same speal every class, and if u ask them a question they flutter... And again , I think they tailor more to the female students...those instructors know the section the speak about and that's it..it's a proven fact, if you dress well, you do well. The fast track to me, all have an ego. Hey I can roll out of bed and put on a fleece and talk about rmp accidents, are u gonna pay me $700?? If they didn't gave the total guide, they'd be nothing special..

Academy course gave pretty decent info and handouts while the instructors were so so, but I would not bank on only that. Use it as an extra tool. The keys instructor Jim Shea is awesome and was dead on when he told us what to study!

Shea is great, and I really like the Key, but these guys arent wearing collared shirts out of respect for their students financial contributions, these instructors are high ranking members who wear business attire for the Job, they teach before and after and I bet probably during their tours. Chief Shea routinely wears suits with his tie un-done. Hardly the pinnacle of professional appearance. Only a fool would base his decision to study for his future on fashion. The bottom line is, no matter what class you choose, if you put the time in, and read read read, your going to do well. The classes are supplements to the patrol guide, they will outline things and make it easier to understand. Reading the section every week before they go over in class, then reviewing with the packets, doing the questions in my opinion = recipe for success.

I believe that the academy questions were the closest to the actual test in terms of format and difficulty. The fast track has the best patrol guide. Their in basket class is a must regardless of what school you go to. The key has great instructors overall.
