2009 EXAM BMOC

The 2008 list is finally finished, give or take a few names!

I figured i would start a thread about when the first promotions from our list will start...

Im hearing  back to back classes bring us into the low 100's...

think there is bout 20 left over give or take, which means if they continue to put in a class every month from now until feb like the rumors are saying,  and they put in bout 70 each class like they are doing, then they should be up to bout 300 by the end of feb.

They went up to 661 so they're are 10 left plus passovers (not exactly sure how many, or if they are cleared).
Anyone know how I can find out who on the 2009 list doesn't have 5 years yet.

Going by tax numbers there are only a few who could be under 5 years in the top 100, but tax numbers aren't that accurate to go by. I guess no 2 day sergeant class for us 2009'rs

Damn, I'm just under 70 I don't think I'll make next class. I wish they would of totally finished the 08 list.
I am hoping there are some without 5 years under me.

Never said I was, but can't get promoted till that list was finished. So obviously I have interest in that, since I'm near top of 09 list.
Got it genius. I knew you weren't that bright. I mean you scored in the 600's how smart can you be.
Also, I was just trying to be nice and relay accurate info to everyone, which I did, as I had two friends in the last class.

If you think scoring higher on an exam that requires memory, instead of actual things you will do as a supervisor, makes you smarter or better qualified to be a boss then you are in for a rude awakening.

i wont have 5 years till january 6th... im # three on the list, tax 940*** dont know how much that helps but people with tax #'s like 939*** through 941*** are in the same boat as me. you can try and narrow it down a little

I have a 939 tax, made 5 in July so I guess anything past a 940 hits 5 in January. Last I checked a couple people in the top 100 of 2009 got promoted already off the 2008 list, so everyone should be at least 2-3 #'s higher. I'm low 90's so I'm hoping for a November & December class.

Just to prove what a moron you really are. "Tht"
is obviously a typo, but "fun on your expense" proves you can't speak English, because it is fun "at" your expense in this country and in my language. Also, for the record the 09 test was the first test I took. If I had taken the 08 test it's quite obvious I would have beaten your pathetic score of 600 something.
Please go get a life. You are obviously outwitted here, give up. You are only embarrassing yourself.
But I will still be the bigger man and wish you good luck again, but I feel very sorry for whatever cops you end up
supervising.

Personally I think they will put another 150 in,  then slow down for a while and back to that every other month or so B.S.

Im anxious to see if another exam is announced.  If a date is set for an exam, things will be speeding up.

Rumor is the next BMOC class (after 10/11/10 class) will be 11/1/10. Just a rumor for now but it came from a pretty reliable source (he's been on the money these last two classes) so we'll see. I would love to see our list move pretty fast as I too would love to be promoted by the summer. Let's all hope.

My source at EMD told me that he knows of a lot of people retiring in October because

A) The governor has not signed off on the 20 year pension protection and no word if or when that's going to happen.
B) There is no contract yet and there are worries that we will get zeros. (That is a separate debate and I personally think it is unlikely, but that is the worry amongst some of the rank and file)
C) The NYPD has hired some new bean counter and he is looking at everything, from cash OT to Time OT. (The theory is that if a cop has 10 days worth of OT, the department will lose him for 15 days, so 15 days less of productivity and has apparently convinced Kelly of this.) Look for all OT to dry up to almost nothing, impacting final pension calculations.

As far as the ranks go, Sergeants have usually the most movement, so that news could be good for us. Anyways, that is what I had heard so please don't take what I say as gospel. I'm just trying to pass on what I was told. Good luck to everyone.

REGARDING THE PENSION CALCULATIONS FOR THE UMOS AT 20YRS OR CLOSE TO 20YRS;
IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO LEAVE KNOW. OVERTIME HAS BEEN CUT DRASTICALLY. THIS PAST SUMMER THE DETAILS THAT WHERE MANDATORY RDO OVERTIME SINCE I'VE BEEN ON THIS JOB WERE CUT DOWN TO HALF OF THE COPS AND BOSSES WORKING ON STRAIGHT TIME. SO THOSE ELIGIBLE FOR RETIREMENT THAT DID HAVE SOME OT  IN THE PAST SHOULD BE LOCKING IN AND WRAPPING IT UP. IT WOULD ONLY MAKE SENSE.

Not enough to worry about so stop asking.  You guys have a whole career ahead of you, a month or two makes no difference.  Relax everyone.  Some of you havent even been on patrol long enough to know what the hell is going on so worry about that first.  Worry about how your going to supervise cops with fifteen years on who were hired when you started elementry school and still wet your bed while you played with your tickle me elmo doll.

In other words everyone will be made soon enough so no need to worry.  I know its a long wait but for the guys with 939-940 numbers have nothing but time so dont rush it.  The ball is rolling.

A couple months can make a huge difference because of the next LT exam.  The future of LT lists will be extremely competitive and will have at least 4 year waiting periods.

Let's say a 5 year wonder misses the exam which most likely will be administered during last quarter of 2011. That person will have to wait at least another 4-5 years just to get a crack at the test.  So if you look at the numbers I can understand why SGT candidates want to get this list moving ASAP.  So if an officer with 5 years on just misses eligibilty for the next LT exam, he'll have 9-10 years on before he gets another chance and even if he manages to attain a decent score he has to wait at least another 2-3 years because the exam is so competitive making the range of his promotion to LT between his 13th - 15th year.  Now if that same officer becomes eligible for the LT exam just after BMOC then he takes the exam immediatley and is promoted 2-3 years from that date making his promotion range 9-10 years.  It's a huge swing in numbers, a couple months can mean being promoted to LT with 8-10 years on vs geting promoted with 13-15 years on.  Not to mention this example was a 5 year wonder, it's worse for the officer that has some time on.  I know it's looking deep into the future, but the bottom line is most people want to move up as quickly as possible especially with how the job is becoming.

I KNOW ONE THING. SUPERVISING COPS WITH 15 YEARS ON THE JOB WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT THAN SUPERVISING IMPACT.wink

All im saying is that all the Sgts that my command recieved in the last couple of years with about 5 years on are embarrassing.  No patrol experience.  Sorry, but if you dont have street time, you cant fake it.  If you dont know what your doing, everyone will know it.  You cant learn patrol overnight so all those OMAP people and others in fake positions will be in for a rude awakening.  For everyone else, they will do just fine.  I guess im just sick of telling my bosses how to do their job.

I can tolerate any boss of any amount of experience as long as they do four things for me.

A) Don't be a douchebag
B) Sign my 28's
C) When I need something, (Like requesting an omni form code) just do it for me.
D) When I'm right, don't be a coward and stand up for me.

I know as a cop what I'm doing and I don't need anyone that had a lucky Saturday trying to re-invent the wheel to impress the CO. Leave me alone, let me do my job and sign said 28's. Like most guys here, I took the test to do less work and get paid more. That's it. Hopefully, everyone here will be fair to their people and take care of them. I have worked for enough jerkoffs to know what I don't want to be like.
