Congrats to all attending the course for Basic leadership Course,aka BMOC. Recently attended last month (sept 09) and found the instructors are aces to say the least. Advice I can offer you and hopefully it helps 1) Listen and enjoy( let reality sink in that you never have to collar or write a summons again) It may take some time for this to sink in, for me it feels weird but a great weird. 2) Have an idea where you want to go( psa, pct dist) the list is 16 and you do not have much time to pick. We got about 30 minutes to pick. And yes the cell phones come out so the hooks are in(LOL). 3) Enjoy your time off the road and do not believe what other cops say. I did not hear once that cops are the enemy. In fact I heard many times do not forget where you came from( so true). Just do not let cops screw you since most cops are great and some are well you know screw ups. 4) No matter how many years you have ( I am over 10) the job will be much different for you, more responsibility and more duties. But from day one you get treated better. 5) Enjoy the classes some are really fun, especially crime scene. I think that was one of the most interesting, Chief Resnick is great. 6) do not mess with the recruits( no taking demerit cards( yes it happens) because if you do you are a loser(LOL). Stay away from the guys who have attitude, once a jerk always a jerk no matter what rank you. 7) If you have a hook, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF and YES USE IT I DID. Again to all my brothers and sisters I wish you all the very best and this is a great holiday gift for you all. And remember you all deserve it. Always watch the hands no matter what, God Bless all.
absolute i am tired of hearin cops say thatall bosses are ******* they were all once cops and most of them are good people. unfortunatly as a boss you have to make a difficult choice and you have to do things a certain way it may look like being shaky but its just being responsible. unfortunatly thier are alot of ******* out thier that one they become a boss theu think they are better than you those guys are loser and instead of feeling anger towards them feel petty cause thier life probably sucks
