A COP WAS NOTIFIED YESTERDAY IN OUR COMMAND WHO IS IN THE LOW 500'S TO ATTEND A 2-DAY COURSE IN THE ACADEMY. HE WAS ALSO TOLD HE SHOULD BE PROMOTED WITHIN 4-6 MONTHS
From my experience it seems that the bosses coming out with the most time on are the shakiest, and can not make a decision to save their lives.
The five year wonders are usually arrogant and like to make long a$$ speeches at roll-call
{about their made up gun run} but at least they know the job and are not afraid to make a decision.
P to the S
To all the 5 year wonders waiting to get made at roll-call no long speeches please, no one cares @ my command we have this fool, every day with his 45 minute roll-calls telling us about his tactic and how to approach a car during a stop... it would all make sense if he did not have a hook-up dad and his last command was transit.

I was informed that people with list # under 500 will not get notified as they will be promoted fairly soon. Those that have been notified to attend this new 2 day course are people with list #500 and over.
Iamlegend, i'd like to know how anyone would get away with a 45 minute roll call. Geez, i deal with mostly rookies, and even with them, after 10 minutes people lose interest . You must have some arrogant idiot. Remember, we are not all arrogant. I being a " 5 year wonder myself " do what i can to teach the new guys the basics and protect them from dumb mistakes. We all know we are our own worst enemies at times. The "5 year wonders" are not all bad, but always a bad apple exists in a bunch. Just remember there is a difference in training and arrogance. Trust me, there are plenty of cops out there who think they know it all, bosses as well. Just keep an open mind, the key is to learn from mistakes not repeat them.
nycop 80 my post speaks for it self, it is one thing for a boss @ roll-call too discuss a particular issue facing the command, and its another for a guy going on and on about his achievements and how jobs should be handled with limited experience... trust me you don't sound like the guy i am discussing.
Bbasically a new approach by the dept. Elongating the promotional process. Broken down to five phases. Phase 1 begining 6 mos prior to bmoc phase 5 ending 6 mos after the bmoc. Those picked are after list # 500 because it gives them an ample amount of time to begin the phases.
I'm pretty sure it's only people with a list number of about 500+, and I think people are randomly chosen, meaning not everyone is going to the training.
when do you start the training? Had a friend attend the 2 day training back in october but it looks like they'll be promoting him either this class or the next depending on how many people they put in. So u figure u take the 2 day training and get promoted 4-6 months later. Does that sound about right? Anyone else take the training, if so when did you get promoted?
