sergeant situation question

Hey Its been a while since I posted one of these.  I just wanted to share one of these questions with you guys that I got from a sergeant test and get your guys opinion on it just to start a talk and provide sample questions for any of you taking the sergeant exam soon!smile

1. Sergeant Millers is called to the scene of a report of a man down.  Dispatch informs him that a ambulance has been sent and that family members are on scene reporting that the man has no pulse and are doing CPR.  When Sergeant Millers arrives on scene what 3 things should he do FIRST?

(A) Tell the family members to stop CPR- put his gloves on - open the air way.

(B) Direct the family members to stop CPR- question the family members- check for a pulse.

(C) Have the family members stop CPR - have them back out of the area- await arrival of the ambulance crew before taking further action.

(D) Radio dispatch that he is on scene- allow the family members to continue to do CPR- await the arrival of the ambulance before taking further action.

Assuming they're doing CPR properly and it is necessary, I'd go with D.

Jpd your question addresses a very important subject, CPR. Once you start CPR, you DO NOT STOP until the professionals that are on their way to your location arrive and take over. Even they won't tell you to stop, they'll wait for you to finish the cycle and take over at that time. That's why you are supposed to count to 30 out loud so the professionals know at what point in the cycle you are.

Very good question.

Just what we need, another volunteer fireman buff asking crazy questions. Worry about how to do your job right and forget about crazy questions. If you want to prepare for a test, take one of the classes when they are offered 6 months before the next one comes out and dont fill your head with junk!!!

I agree. We should all line up and give him the z-master. A 30 count would be most appropriate!

I think that Jpd was serious when he posted this. That's what makes this so great. I can't wait for his next question. Go for it Jpd. I promise to give you a serious answer.
