I know personally as many people that scored 85 or better on this test as I know that recieved a 70 or better on the 07 and 08 tests combined. It is too early to tell for sure but it seems like this will be a pretty large list.
thats what u think guys...believe me when the list comes out, u will be surpriced how small its going to be. in my command 6 people passed but only 2 of us will be eligible for promotion on timely manner. half of the list will be on standby cuz of seniority. i remember reading this forum last year and every1 was saying same thing. however, out of 6000 people who took the test initially 570+ passed plus another 100...anyway the list will be in 400s if they throw out some questiones add another 80-100
Although anything at this point is just speculation I think it is fair to say that considering the promotion slow down almost everybody that took this test will be eligible by the time the list is established. There are 400 or so left on the 08 list so if they hire 26 sergeants a month for the next 15 months without skipping any months they won't need to use anybody off the 09 exam. That would mean that only those with the bare minimum three years would be waiting for eligibility. If they put in a class of 20-30 every other month for the next two years or so they can use the 08 list without passing over anybody from the 09 exam. Although I agree that in past years people said the same thing I think the promotion slowdown makes this a feasible scenario. Good luck to everybody that passed. For those that didn't, good luck on the next exam whether it is in 2010 or 2013 or somewhere in between.
FOR SURE EVERYBODY WILL BE ELIGIBLE BY THE TIME THEY ARE READY TO PROMOTE FOR THIS LIST ONCE IT IS ESTABLISHED SO EVERYONE WILL BE PROMOTED EXACTLY AS IT IS FROM THE LIST.

why were they taking 07 08 test simultaneously. was it cuz 07 was short list and some guys didn't have 5 years so they had to go on 08?
Exactly there were not enough people eligible off the 07 list in september of 08 so they established the 08 list and promoted eligibles while they waited for January 09 for the rest of the 07 guys and gals to become eligible/unjammedup.

dude, thats a bad hypothetical example...even before they established 70 as a passing score, they would never come up with 1300...come on now. every1 will be promoted. hopefully we gonna get promoted from 09 list sometimes in the fall just like with 08 list.
the number i am using is high for example because the top 1300 for example got called regardless what grade you got. hell i know someone when i started got promoted with a 59 .the 70 score was put in effect the last few test dont know exactly which one. if its a high number that passed, you do believe 70 and you will be promoted or if its 1300 the first 1000 get promoted and the bottom 300 have to take the test again just saying a high number because it does appear alot of people passed this test so far.
dude, what u r saying is a history.... those days are over...by implementing tests every year with 70 as a passing score, the Dept. forces cops to read the patrol guide and be familiar with procedures...since 2006 thousands of cops been taking test ...i think thats what they want up there in the puzzle palace, give tests every year as an incentive and have us read p/g every year. 70 as a passing-make the Dept look more professional when it comes to promotion. Its ridiculous to promote having scored 59. what kind of standart is this? LAPD, the feds laugh at this...
What are you people talking about??? No way more thn 450-600 people passed without throw outs... You are on a board with people that have something in common(studied)...of course most of us passed. You think someone with a 57 on the exam is going to sit in front of a computer dwelling on the fact that they failed by 13...No...they moved on.
6000 took exam
1000 took it to get a free saturday night off 2500 didnt even crack book open 1000 started studying then stoped because it was overwhelming 1500 studied moderatly - hard
500--maybe a little more pass (1/3 studiers passed--thats including occasional studiers)
08 list was established because the 07 list was pitifully small and running out of names.
08 list has about 400 or so names left. The 09 list probably wont be established until 100 or so names are left on the 08 list in which case the next couple of months after that will be the bottom guys of 08 with the top of 09 guys. The 09 list wont be established until late 2009 or early 2010 imo.
No one will be cut from either the 08 or 09 list. If they have a lot of people on the 09 list, which i think will happen since double the people in my command passed this one over the last exam, then they just wont have another test for a few years or so.
Why kill a list full of eligible names to promote off the next list with eligible names? That makes no sense. The only time a list gets killed is after four years by dcas law. So if they are still promoting people in 2013 on the 09 list then i would be worried if i was near the bottom. But until then dont worry. Everyone will be promoted but its just gonna take a bit longer this time...
