The List '08

When there are less than 3 people ELIGIBLE to be promoted they can put out another list; however they have to return to promote those skipped.

Right now there are 21 people in BMOC, 18 (appx) others that can not be promoted because they are either under investigation or modified, and 20 (appx) that are not eligible due to time, making it less than 3 ELIGIBLE names on the current list.  Therefore, the list can not be established until after promotions on Friday, August 29, 2008.

They shorted BMOC no less than 50 Sergeants this month, so they are going to want to bang out several classes in a row to make up for the loss.  A class of 70+ every other month appears to be the way they go.

I'd bank on the week of Sept. 1st, but of course not the 1st because it is Labor Day, but by the 5th you will all know your list #'s.

Good luck to all!!!

NO DREAM SHEET REQUIRED FOR ME

Hmm, this sounds interesting and i do hope youre right.

However, in my 4 short years on this job i have learned that things that make sense are things that the department does not do.

This is not up to the department, it is solely up to DCAS, as guided by Civil Service Law. The only involvement the department has is to permit atleast 3 of the 18 misfit "holdovers" to now be eligible to be promoted within the next 2 weeks, which is highly unlikely--or continue to leave them under investigation, until the day after the list is established. The people with enough time on that are "holdovers" are wife beaters or modified for one reason or another, the rest don't have 5 years on yet.

Not doubting you here, but I have seen this before and wondered to myself, what is " under investigation OR modified"? Are these people who are "under investigation" full duty cops with no clue they are under investigation. Obviously modified is what it is but can they really say "oh , yeah, mr. x your under investigation for something, sorry, no promotion for you"? Or is it more likely excessive open ccrbs, cd's and things like that?

They may skip you 3 times and give you NO REASON AT ALL.

On the 4th skip, they either have to promote you or give you a valid reason for the skip.

Of the 18 people, a few probably don't have the college requirement, a few are modified, and the rest are under investigation.

Can anyone confirm this nonsense? If true, its ridiculous.

I'm not sure how it works, but there was one cop and one Sgt, both full duty, in my command who were being investigated by IAB for minor stuff. Both wound up getting promoted with the very last class possible because they took last-minute pleas.

This is correct info, from what i know,

They may skip you 3 times and give you NO REASON AT ALL.

On the 4th skip, they either have to promote you or give you a valid reason for the skip.

Also you do not have to be modified to be skipped. Someone from my previous command has been skipped, and he is not modified. He does have charges and specs though.

that's bullshiit!!they cannot skip u 3 times for NO REASON. that's a lawsuit. let me see. I pass the test, my c.o. doesn't like me so he makes a phone call to fvck me and I get skipped 3 times for no reason?! yeah oook.try again. they need a reason to skip u like if u have charges, really bad sick record, iab investigation, excessive ccrbs, force monitoring etc.other then that it's not happening.who comes up wit this shiit??

You call it bullshiit, they call it civil service law.

jaggeddj, he didn't say "have no reason to skip and skip you". What he said was skip without giving you an explanation. Those are two different things. In fact, you can be under investigation and have no idea. Someone I know was ordered down to IAB to sign his charges and he'd never been interviewed, nor did he know he was under investigation. They'll run you and if your flagged, they skip you. Often times, if your investigation is coming to a close and they know you're on a list, if your case is decent, they'll try to close your case so you can get promoted. But unfortunately, the crane guy's info is accurate. I've worked around whiteshirts long enough to know how this job gets down. We just have ti try to stay clear of any **** and we'll be alright.

I stand corrected then......that's actually a pretty scary thought not knowing when u r under investigation n then being called down to sign ur charges without a meeting wit the co, Pba etc...

I believe they can skip you without providing an explanation to you, but I do call bull**** on getting hit with charges and specs out of the blue.  Every cop I know that has received c and s knew what was going on when they had to go the DAO to pick it up.  If you are clueless as to why you are being investigated or are unaware as to an investigation being conducted, you have more problems than just the investigation.  I dont know anything about your friends story judee, but if he was going to IAB to pick up his charges, maybe there was a criminal element to his charges, normally you get your charges at the Dept Advocate.

RE: The List '08

He was ordered to the Dept Advocate's Office to p/u charges. Trust me there's a first time for everything. I know it sounds a bit ridiculous but, I know the person pretty well and sure that's just how it went. I don't know how familiar you are with investigations but when this job wants to get you, they will.

Ok so lets say they put 75 people into BMOC from our exam, what scores do you think make up that amount? I am sure some made it in the 90's but everyone I talked to about this test seemed like alot of the scores were in the 70's. I only heard a few 80's on here.

I agree,.....I think that all the soon to be five year wonders got 90s & 80s on this exam. I think that everyone else got low 70s and a 70!!!!!! So, if you got at least a 77% raw score and have five (5) years on, the chances of you going in to this class are pretty good. That is however, if you got all of your college credits veryfied, couple of throwouts coupled with your seniority points. Good Luck to all!

It's kind of strange that i'm looking at the finest here for the people going in on Tues and I have like the fourth or fifth lowest Tax # for the class. It's amazing how few people with over ten years on are on this list.I guess i'm the loser who didn't get promoted with 5 years on like the rest of my friends, lol.I would be a Lt.already if I had half the drive to get promoted that I had for this test.
For those who are looking for an idea about raw scores I had 18 wrong plus max seniority points.Coupled with the throw outs and double answers i'm in the 90's........
Well i'm off to enjoy my extended weekend .Assigned to P.A.after midnight tonight. No Juvee or West Indian parade for me!..At not until next year when i'm a rookie Sgt and working all the sh**** details awaiting me! Good luck and congrats to all!Especially my fellow BMOC peers.
