80% - 90% of your studying should be straight patrol guide.

The other time should be exam like questions.

I honestly think the classes arent a necessity because the classes are what, at the most 3 hours a week? You should be doing 10-20 hours a week on your own anyway.

I spent most of my time reading the patrol guide but I also went to The Key in valley stream and found the classes and the CD's to be very helpful .

The "FAST-TRACK" is Definitely the way to go!!!!!!! Their Patrol Guide simplified the whole "DIGESTING" process of reading such a vaguely written book like the PG,...Thanks Mike, Al, Phil & Steve for ALL of your HARD WORK,......Arty Storch from the KSA Sgt. Course,.....He's on POINT!!!!!! His questions were desingned to get you acustomed to the real EXAM!!!!!,...And he also "THOROUGHLY" explained, simplified and broke down each section accordingly,.....Not like "The Key" in where they just read the Guide to ya!!!!!!!! Lastly, the NYPD Police's Academy Free Sgt. Course that was offered through the Intranet, Internet & Live!!!!!!!!! They were on POINT!!!!!! Although they didn't explain the answer like the other schools, their questions by FAR were more similas to the EXAM over the others.......Here's my list as to which school had the MOST similarity to the DCAS Sgt. Exam Questions:
1. NYPD PA Free Sgt.'s Course
2. KSA
3. Rising Star Promotion
4. The Key
5. The Fast Track

But ofcourse you HAVE TO READ THE PG ON YOUR OWN!!!!!!!!! Classes are ONLY a DESIGNED method of studying!!!!! ONLY A METHOD OF STUDYING!!!!!!,....Let's break it down for one minute,....All these PROMOTIONAL SCHOOLS do for you is PROVIDE A SYSTEM in where you are to participate and study,...wether is the Fast-Track's five diamond system or The Key's System,.....they introduce it to you on day one along with their motivational speeches, jokes & war stories. Next, they designed a method that have worked for them and pass it on to you!,.....wether its doing a section a week like The Key or two different sections a week like The Fast-Track, you really have to read the PG on your own and then everything will fall in its place!!!!!

-You have to read the patrol guide - there is no cutting corners. I went to the fast track which layed out structure & a time frame on how to study. And definitely motivated you to keep on going for a long 6 months.

I would stand by The KEY as the best of them all.  Of course you have to do the reading but it certainly helps to hear it from guys that have taken it time and time again.  The PA intranet was helpful but the first couple of reviews turned me off.  However, I heard they got better towards the end.  Everyone has their own learning technique you have to find your own.

Good luck to us all,
