First please don't discuss the questions. Second is anyone going to protest some of the questions? I was reading the answer sheet instructions and it states "If you wish to be summoned to review the test questions in order to file protests to the proposed key answers, fill out the form below and mail it with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the address below no later than one week following the date of this test."
Because history shows that when questions are challenged in greater numbers and with different validity points then DCAS has no choice to throw out those questions or risk Law Suit. Here is what I want everyone to do. What ever question you think should be thrown out then we all will submit a protest individually for the entire group. That way if I got a question right and you have it wrong and vice versa, it gives us a great ability to help each other out and protest questions at greater numbers agaisnt DCAS. I will post my info soon so we can collectively have better odds at tackling this task.
I would definently like to do this. For all of us who are bordering the 70 Mark. I think we need to have a group going and scruntinze these questions together to get questions thrown out and have them swing our way.
I have already looked up some questionable questions in the Patrol Guide and am confident that we can have them overturn. If anyone is interested please email me at phatan16@hotmail.com. I will put you on the list and contact everyone in a group email.
I have worked too hard to fail by a few. Must be done ASAP
I am definently in. I will contact you with my email. This is my 4th test. I missed the last test by 2 points. I think they threw out 6 questions. A buddy of mine got 69 on the last test. He decided to fight some questions and got luckly when they threw out one of the questions he protested. He will be getting made boss soon.
I think this is an excellent idea. More minds work better together than just one by it self.
I'm in...however I need a better answer key, 43Ccop did a great job, thank you. However some of our instructors who took the exam and our money need to step up to the plate and put forth a better answer key so we can start doing our research.
Hey gonzo66..good luck with that.. They already got your money. Last test I couldn't understand why they wouldn't help us out and lesson some of that post test anxiety. Maybe this year they will
The job wont let the school people put out a answer key. Second be careful a mos from my capt's test was removed from the list because of a post on examx. Word to the wise be careful.
PEOPLE STOP POSTING QUESTIONS PLEASE. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE POSTING QUESTIONS. YOU ARE JUST GIVING IT AWAY TO THOSE WHO DID'T STUDY AND ARE TAKING IT LATER ON. SO PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP POSTING QUESTIONS.
I was wondering can you protest the question about "you loose the gas card for the rmp, what is the recorder should do". Didnt we stop using those cards and an interm order came out taking out the rmp gas card. please advice how can I join your group to protest those questions.
63inthehouse, That sound like a protest to me..... Make sure you and anyone(all that sat 6 hours taking the test!) protesting a question send your slip to DCAS by this week so they can send you down for a session.
Are we aloud to fight questions as a group or is that against the rules and regulations. I would like to know. What did that person do to get kicked out of the captain's list.
you CAN NOT protest a question just because the procedure is done differently in the "real world". You can, however, protest if it was different than what is in the book. On test day, what is written in that Patrol Guide is all that matters........sorry, but that protest isn't gonna fly.
Well let me re phrase my question. I want to know that can I join that group of people who are going to protest a questions as a group? Because someone just posted a question that a person was kicked off the captains list?
Regarding the thread about a lieutenant who got kicked off the captains list because he talked about the test. Can someone clarify what are the rules about protesting. I would'nt want to jepordize my name on the list because of something I didn't know.
So can someone advise please or give examples. Can we protest as a group regarding questions?
as many people as possible should definately protest. even if you did really well. everyone that passes is going to get promoted due to the need of sgt's. so if you think you got a high score still protest some of the odd/hard questions, all of the ones you can think of.
Can you be more specific regarding him getting kicked off the list. I started a group where a lot of people responded but I don't want to do this if it's going to jepordize me getting kicked off the list. What are the rules?
I thing I made very clear to everyone is that Please do not discuss the questions. If you are going to protest a question then we all protest that same question.
specifics of the exam were discussed therefore allowing those who didnt take it yet to see what is going to be on it. In a nut shell that was it, it was done on line and they were able to trace it. Why do you think they dont allow anyone to take the exams home after the test.
A guy on the last captain's exam was kicked off the list for discussing protests online and posting the questions online, including the answer choices. They were an exact match to the actual questions. This is strictly prohibited by DCAs rules, because it compromises the questions. I would be very leery about posting questions online in any detail for the purposes of protesting them.
Has anyone went to the review before to go over the questions and answers? And if so what are you allowed to do there. I read the DCAS guidelines but they are a little vague. I need an answer from someone who actually went to the review in person. What I want to know is that when at the review can you actually write down notes and bring with you at home to protest the questions?
What exactly can you do and can't you do. Because on DCAS web site it states you can bring material but you can't take notes. Then how are you going to fight something if you don't write it down.
Please someone explain what exactly can be done there? Please elobarate in detail.
already sent in the slip for the review process. make sure you send those slips in by saturday. anyone else think that the answers were vague or not the complete right answer
This is only subjective advice and I am not liable for it: only discuss questions after the Sabbath and Military exams, which will be done in a few weeks, and don't:
- List all the answer choices - Try to precisely reconstruct question stems - Use terms that closely track the questions from the exam.
Discuss the questions as generally as possible, and spend most or all of you time referring to the PG, etc., rather than the question itself. People who took the test and went to the protest session will know the question and won't need to see it again online.
The LT who was kicked off apparently posted questions online that were practically identical in structure, answer choices, etc., to the questions on the test. Plenty of people discussed questions online, but he was the only one penalized because he basicially gave away questions verbatim.
You are allowed to discuss questions, but not with people who have yet to take the exam. This is what it says directly above where you signed your name on the DCAS admissions card. Giving away precise questions online violates this.
This is only an opinion, so don't hold me to it. It is a subjective judgment, but it is grounded in fact.

yes can someone advise as to what actually goes on there???
You can bring materials into the session, you can't take anything out and you can't take notes. Would anyone notice if you wrote little notes in your P.G.? Probably not.
When you go in they give you a copy of the test and the answer key and they give you quadrupilate sheets that you can write the protests on, you don't have to go home and write them. They've also always done photo copies of the PG pages for me. Sometimes the classrooms are quiet and people work independently, and sometimes people in the classes work together to write up as many protests as possible from as many different angles.
Thank You CDM115...big help...it sounds like those protesting have a challenge ahead of them. If you know...What is the basic premise by which a question is discarded? what is the standard of proof? Who decides?
Do these DCAS people think we are psychic!!!!!!!! How are we suppose to protest a question if we can't write down notes. If we wanted to go home and protest a question then we are out of luck.
Does anyone know how much time they give us to protest? Can someone pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee be specific about the procedures. Someone in the earlier thread wrote that they make copies of the PG pages for you. Did you mean for the protest?
For those who chose to protest as a group then can we protest as a group? How does the seating work?
Some please who has protested before give an indepth answer so we can be better prepared for what's coming. Thank You
You're directed to a room and can pretty much sit anywhere you want. You have 6 hours from the start time of the protest session and can leave whenever you are done. The session is really designed that you're supposed to write the questions while there, though you can certainly submit one later.
The benefit of working as a group is that there are then multiple protests of a question, or you can try to protest a question for different reasons. If you work alone though, you can go through much quicker.
I have no idea who they decide which to throwout or double answer. I wrote one once, where none of the answers were correct according to the PG, it was thrown out.
As for the copies, they make copies of the procedures to submit with the protest. So you'll write up the protest on the quadruplicate sheet and submit a copy of the PG procedure with it. They should have their own copy of the PG, but who wants to take a chance.
You only have like a week to submit for an appt for the protest session, so make sure you send in your letters.
I would like to see how many others, fell victim to the change sheet on the in basket.. I take full responsibility for not reading the whole sheet.. I was to focused on the test, and since my proctors didn't mention a question being changed i just went full steam ahead. I would like to know how many others, missed number 3, due to this fact.... please post or private message me thanks... so I will try my best to protest it, even though im the tart who didn't read the sheet....
28 wrong i am still protesting...anyone have any questions that should be thrown out let me know so I could start my research now...please do not post the question, just the number or IM the question.
I SHOULD'VE LISTEN, THE ANSWER KEY WAS OFF. NOW WHEN DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE ANSWERS THAT ARE GOING TO BE TROWN OUT? AND WHICH ARE THE ANSWERS THEY ARE FIGHTING? 81,82,84 AND 86 SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. BELIEVE ME, I NEED THEM.
